Welcome to the team - Lynn Bowden

So, just rewatched the draft (wanted to see what they said about Bowden again). After Goodell read NYJ #79 pick, it took Mayock just 32 seconds to get the Bowden pick in. Is that fast? Well, not as fast as the Muse pick, which just took Mayock 27 seconds to get it at #100.

The clock doesnt start when Goodell reads the pick.

It starts when the team in front phones the pick in. You can have an interview, see highlights, watch a monkey on the screen whatever. The clock is running on Team B as soon as Team A calls their pick in. Nothing to do with Goodell.

Doh!

Guess he'll be in that Taysom Hill role with the Saints... That dude plays QB, DE, WR and return kicks.... Maybe its the future in the NFL... Be interesting to see how they play him...

1920s NFL returns.

Will be interesting to see some really creative run/pass options with Bowden flaring out, Carr with a long handoff, pitch out.. backwards pass, etc.

I'm still waiting on the so called genius offensive mind that is Gruden to appear. I still see the Gannon offense from years ago- run centric, dump-offs, short intermediate throws, etc..., You want creative? Look at NO and KC. Sean Payton uses Hill. This pick only makes sense if we're going to be real clever using this kid- who does have talent. If he's just a third round back- it was a dumb pick. You get those two rounds later.

I wish we would use more pre snap motion and break the huddle in weird formations to cause confusion. Essentially do what KC does. Andy Reid is a master of using that stuff to create mismatches and single out LB's who can't cover.

For all this 'offensive guru' bullshit I hear about it looks like the most vanilla west coast offense you could design in two hours on Madden.

Using Bowden as a joker could be fun. Split him out wide, move him around, get him the ball in space and create mismatches. Having him be an upgraded dump off binky blanket for Carr on 3rd and 9 isnt what I have in mind.

I see a RB #3 and gadget player. The bright side is maybe he can be our kick returner. Not good value in the 3rd round. But you never know, he is going to need time to develop. Luckly running the football has more to do with instincts and he seems to have the vision for it. Can he be physical from the RB spot? I doubt it.

I bet Booker gets carries next year as the #2. Richard and Bowden split pass catching duties.

I take some comfort that we drafted him around where he was projected to go so it’s not some out of left field wild flyer. In terms of toughness he probably will never be confused as a power back but I imagine he took enough hits as a running QB to see whether it’s a concern or not. I’m probably homering the pick a little but we’ve been begging for this type of backfield option for Carr for years so I’m kinda hopeful/excited to see him play.

Anyone else sick if the term “ That’s a Raider” Based in recent history, I don’t want “A Raider” I want to hear them say “That’s going to be a great player”

He’s been here two seconds and knows what a Raider is lol. Mayock has a penchant for cliches though. A few years back I wanted to throw the remote at him the next time he said “affect the QB” during the draft. He and Jon together can be a little much sometimes but it’s still better than Mark/Reggie/JDR for listening pleasure.

Now that he has “skin in the game” it should all work out.

Booker is better at catching the ball than running the ball though. I’m so confused. o_O
