Nice, thanks for the feedback. I'm about ready to make the leap.

You can always go back to your cellular provider if you aren't happy. There's no contract with the cell service. Just make sure your phone is portable.

I'm with At&t so I'd have to unlock it but there's instructions right on the website for that.

Thanks for reminding me about the modem. That will save you over $100/month. Xfinity programming is much better than DTV's IMO. In the end, they all pretty much blow

Edit I meant a year

Yup. No illusions about any of them being any good, but it is a necessary evil (at least internet service is). Buying a good cable modem made a big difference in my internet performance. The one we had been renting was almost 5 years old, and even though I was paying for 100 Mbps, I was only getting 50-60 Mbps. Once I bought my own, I was seeing speeds close to 250 Mbps (same service). Depending on the time of day, it can be over 300 Mbps. I guess I was stupid not to swap the one I was renting before it got so antiquated ...

Im going nfl pass for $99.. get all the pre-season games and raiders games are avaliable 4 hours after they are complete.. fuck it.. im just gonna watch the 1 o:clock game and do something till 8pm and then watch the Raiders game at 8pm... and Ill stay off here so you homos wont ruin the ending for me-

Besides, theres like 6 games nationally televised

But coming on here during the games is the best part of this forum!

Only issues there are some older phones don't have both CDMA and GSM (there was once two competing cellular architectures and AT&T and VZ have different ones for 3G. LTE and 5G will all be the same). And to unlock your phone with AT&T you will need to pay it off if it isn't already.

Anybody use streaming for other sports? I'm the only one in the house that doesn't pretty much stream exclusively at this point because I primarily watch sports. I'd love to just cut the cable completely but I can't live without the sports. Especially when I have to DVR a lot of the time.

I did that for a couplea years.. I liked it.

when I did it you could watch a 30-40 minute condensed game and also there were different views, like coaches camera and stuff.. was pretty cool... + you get all the NFL Films programs they ever made ... stuff like that

My son turned me onto the NBA Streams. Let's see if the NFL will put the kibosh on the Reddit Streams. If so, will just go to my local sports bar and watch. Good excuse to get out of the house on Sundays because its it's hot as fuck to play golf.

I'm thinking of just getting one of the subscriptions to like Hulu or something that has sports. I've never really watched it streaming though... is it the same quality?

Isn't YouTube TV and Hulu like $40/mo. ? Once you have to add the internet to that, you are back over $100 a month. Not sure how many channels they have either.

I pay almost $75 a month just in equipment and fees alone with cable. My bill is like $250 for cable and internet but everyone else in the house except me just streams TV so I don’t really need the cable part. I think the problem is going to be the data cap.

That’s ridiculous. I pay half that with Xfinity. How many channels do you have? I think I get free Showtime and another premium channel which I never watch. I get most of the Sports Channels except NBA TV and I think NHL Channel. Netflix is only $12/month. Wtf are your kids streaming? Lol

I do Hulu... with internet, hulu, HBO and Netflix it comes to about $130 a month. Just run it all off X-Box or fire sticks. Plenty enough stuff between the services to keep me occupied. I was in the same boat as you were, paying $250 a month for stuff I wasn't really watching plus 4 boxes 2 DVR's...then on top of it paying for Hulu and Netflix on top of it which everyone else was already using.

BTW the service is just fine so long as you have good internet.

I don’t even know... I watch about 5 in total though lol. Biggest scam.

That’s what I’m thinking. My only problem is a couple of teenagers that’ll probably take me over the terabyte cap if everyone in the house is streaming. They’ve used 687GB to date this month.

You'll be good. I have my teenager playing games along with two little ones watching that damn baby shark song on both their kindles and the main TV nonstop for 12 hours a day. Plus whatever other stupid shit we've got connected all seems to work.

Really wish things would go back to like it was when I was a kid. 4 channels of nothing on except for Saturdays and 7PM when the Muppets came on.

Man I remember when cable loaded with HBO etc was like $29 a month... shits outta control

Serious question. Is Direct TV better or worse now that it's owned by AT&T?
My experience is that it is worse. The TV service is the same but customer service is terrible. When you call the 1-800 number you are more likely than not talking to someone in the Philippines. When you need to bring a tech to your house, he is an independent contractor and is limited at what he can do because the company won't allow them to carry extra equipment. I found this out when my house got struck by lightning and fried all my stuff. The only reason that I am still a DTV guy is the Ticket...if that goes away or ends up on another source, I'm gone...

We didn't even get a TV until my grandfather retired when I was like 8 years old or so. My grandmother didn't believe in it... she called it the idiot box lol. After we got one I was restricted to half and hour a day except for whatever they were watching in the evening if I wanted to watch. Saturdays I would wake up at like 5 in the morning to watch since my half hour didn't start until she woke up. No cartoons that early but a bunch of shit like Mr. Ed and the black and white 50 year old superman series, etc.
