Finally a list we have a guy who should be pretty high consensus wise.
I am probably gonna stop around 20 because there really aren’t that many dominant WR1’s.
1. DeAndre Hopkins - I have him here because for quite a while he was doing his thing with CRAP at QB. And he’s stayed healthy and steady.
2. Antonio Brown - I have him at #2 simply due to the often unavailability of the next two guys. Brown is a stud tho. If he was a Steeler I’d still have him in the same spot #nohomer
3. Julio Jones - Often injured and came up lame in the clutch in the playoffs. But he’s the most physically dominant WR in the league with Calvin Johnson hanging it up.
4. A.J. Green - Another specimen who may be the best big deep threat in the league. Has gotten it done against some really good defenses over the years with a QB who can’t quite take full advantage of his ability to win deep.
5. Michael Thomas - May be a tad high but he had a HUGE season in 2018. Some of the best hands in the game.
6. OBJ - Tad injury prone and seemingly a diva. Already causing controversy in Cleveland. He’s a threat to take it to the house on any play. Great hands and a fantastic route runner.
7. Mike Evans - More consistent QB play and he could rise. Catches the ball in traffic as well as anyone in the league.
8. Tyreke Hill - Another guy I may have too high. But he affects the field the same way Steph Curry effects the court in basketball. Premier deep threat with the perfect QB for his abilities. Improved route running and hands. He’s terrifying to cover. Off the field trouble could end his career.
9. Ju Ju Smith-Shuster - Great all around game and has an innate open field RAC ability. Young, tough player. One of my favorites to watch.
10. DeVonte Adams - Extremely productive WR who plays against real good CB’s 6 times a year. Some say he’s over rated, but he sees some of the best secondaries in football week in and week out and steadily produces.
11. Adam Thelin - UDFA who has become a fantastic possession WR across from the next WR on my list. I’ll give him the slight nod for now.
12. Stephon Diggs - Huge playoff run and a huge contract put high expectations and he didn’t disappoint. As with AT he benefits from having essentially another WR1 across from him and an accurate, aggressive QB.
13. Julian Edelman - Doesn’t quite put up the stats as some others but gets open and makes big plays in the clutch possibly better than any WR in the NFL. Becoming a tad injury prone.
14. Jarvis Landry - Terrific possession WR who puts up a steady performance week to week. Will benefit from having an aggressive young QB to work with.
15. TY Hilton - Possibly a Tad too low. Will benefit from working with a healthy Andrew Luck, has performed without much help next to him.
16. Kenny Golloday - Somewhat of an unknown but a huge target who plays in a tough division. Big young kid who has some speed and some upside. More consistency from Stafford and growth in his game and he could rise.
17. Alshon Jeffrey - If not for injuries I’d have him higher. Big body WR with a Chris Carter type game. Some injury luck for himself and Wentz and he could put up some great numbers on a high octane team.
18. Amari Cooper - Maddeningly inconsistent WR capable of a 200 yard or a 20 yard game from week to week. Was more consistent in Dallas and put up overall good numbers after the trade. Benefits from a division without top level CB talent. Could put up monster stats and rise in a contract year if he’s fed the ball.
19. Keenan Allen - Another guy I have low due to injury history. When he’s healthy he’s a top 10 talent, but that’s often not the case. Smooth route runner with great hands and a fantastic QB to work with.
20. Robert Woods - Solid all around WR, similar to DeVonte Adams. As Gurley struggled and Kupp was injured, more attention was paid to him and of effected his production. Real solid player in a great scheme.
Probably gonna catch some flak over a few of my rankings, and there could be a lot of movement due to injuries to themselves or their QB. Having a good QB definitely helps WR’s ability to produce (and vice versa).
