The prequel has been out for months. It’s sitting on my nightstand and I’ll probably start it after this final episode.
As for the “remaining” books in the series, I doubt we’ll ever see them. Putting myself in his shoes, how satisfying would it be to write a story that everyone has a notion as to what the ending could be? Any book he releases now will have that Scooby Doo “alternate ending” feel to it, even though it would 100% be better done than the show has been.
Then again, putting myself in his shoes.... das a lot o’ fuckin’ money to leave on the table.
I’m talking about the HBO prequel.
I think GRRM has moved on to other projects now and isn’t really all that interested in finishing it. He’s probably low key grateful that the TV series did it for him.
