The Del Rio, Pagano & Norton Thread

Just so you all know what we are dealing with, by playing Mr. Reggie Nelson.

#Raiders' Reggie Nelson has allowed either a first down or touchdown on 43.75% of his targets, which ranks 35th among safeties with at least 10 targets so far this

#Raiders' Reggie Nelson has forced an incompletion on just 12.5% of his targets, which ranks 33rd in the league and sits 5.5% below average among safeties with 200+ coverage snaps so far this season.
:(

3rd Down Defense. Completion Percentage

1. JAX 50.9%
2. MIN 52.2%

31. GB 70.8%
32. OAK 70.83%

Just can't win playing football this way.
You know what Jacksonville and Minnesota have in common?

They have put a lot of premium draft picks into their secondary.

From 2014-2017, Jacksonville has used but a single pick in the top 3 rounds on a DB.

(Colvin was a 4th rounder.)

In that same span, they've used three premium picks on edgerushers (one in Rd1, two in Rd3) and took Myles Jack in Rd2.

Every other pick through the first 3 rounds (8 total) has been an offensive player.

Was GB every actually good at defense? I don't remember it that way...
GB and their "system" is a myth. They have won ONE Super Bowl with the best QB in football.

The supporting cast that the GB drafting/FA system has produced is pretty much straight up garbage. And so we're stuck with a guy who subscribes to that type of system. Great!

and yet neither Obi nor Luani can get on the field.
From what I've seen of Obi he's not ready, granted it's been limited. Luani has given up atleast two TD's in his limited snaps, he's not ready either. I feel like there were more but I can't say for sure, I also have not watched the Buffalo game yet to see how he did in that game yet.

Either way neither of them are ready to take over for Nelson. On a side note, 3rd down conversions seem to be a huge issue because of our LB's and and our slot corner. Carrie gives up a lot of 3rd downs.

Raiders LB Cory James misses another practice, needs knee surgery, source said. But he’s deferring it to put team first. https://t.co/jgDbBnH3GJ

Kids got Heart ! Probably can't cover it for the Pledge of Allegiance, but he's got heart.

Well Nelson is a liability and those guys aren't going to get better standing on the sideline... Obi was a 2nd rounder, aren't those players supposed to go in and produce year 1? If he's not ready then Reggie dun fucked up...
