Nothing really else going on and it seems like there are plenty of music fans so I figured why not. I’m actually surprised there isn’t one already considering how many other threads end up getting derailed by music talk.

To get started…

Favorite/least favorite genre:

Favorite artist:

First/most recent album acquired:

First/most recent concert or show:

Favorite/least favorite genre: I like a lot of different types of music but I’d probably say some sort of alternative rock is the core of what I listen to most. I started out on bands like Metallica and Megadeth and moved on to more indie/punk stuff mostly from the late 80s to early 90s. I liked some hip hop from the same era and lately have been getting into some of the older British street punk/Oi stuff. Least favorite is any of the newer rap or this pop country shit that's all over the radio.

Favorite artist: I’m more of a favorite album person since so many artists had just a couple good albums or it was flat out too obscure to really take off. That said, I like most of the Op Ivy/Rancid/Lars Fredrickson stuff, early AFI, etc.

First/most recent album acquired:
First, Jackson 5 Victory album. Yes, I’m ashamed and my metal head uncle will never let me live it down as long as I live. In my defense, I was like 6 or 7 and Michael Jackson was huge at the time. Most recent was probably the Rancid Troublemaker album.

First/most recent concert or show:
First real “concert” was Faith No More back in like 88 or 89 but I’d been going to a lot of the local shows by then. That was an awesome time for music in the Bay Area. Most recent was Dropkick Murphy’s up in Chico a few months ago. Cool show.

Favorite/least favorite genre: So many to choose from. I've always liked 70's Funk and of course Floyd, Zep, Hendrix, The Who, Skynyrd, Allman Bros. I listen to a lot of Jam/trippy stuff like Phish, Dead, Widespread Panic, Moe, Gov't Mule, I like a lot of funk jazz as well like MMW, Lettuce, Crusaders. Least favorite is Top 40 and the new hip hop crap.

Favorite artist: Zep, Floyd, The Who, Phish.

First/most recent album acquired: First album was Deep Purple "who do we think we are". I can't remember the last time I bought an album.

First/most recent concert or show: First concert was Sabbath and Aerosmith at MSG. Most recent show was probably Dicky Betts here locally.

Favorite/least favorite genre: Everything, but mostly Classic Rock/ Least favorite is modern Hip-hop and R&B of today (it's all shit) and all the pop crap like Taylor Swift.

Favorite artist: Pink Floyd or the Beatles I suppose, but I just like listening to music. It all depends on the mood I'm in. Been playing a lot of oldies on Pandora at work lately when I'm not editing video.

First/most recent album acquired: I think it was either the Back to the Future soundtrack or Star Wars soundtrack, both were back on vinyl when I was a kid. Most recent? That would have been back in the 90's, so you got me.

First/most recent concert or show: I think my first was Al B Sure and Expose. I won free tickets on the radio and took a girl a girl I had a crush on, but I was a bit too pigmentally challenged for her tastes. / Last show was a double show for George Lopez or Tejano the week before, or Alice Cooper the week before that. My second job is fun and I'm always in the front row.

I hung out with that guy a few times before he got famous. He gave me his skinhead views on Jews at my house once... said all our food and other products were more expensive because they had to be blessed by a Rabbi. Those views aside, he was actually a really cool dude and a killer guitar player. I got too drunk at a party one night, he gave me a ride home took me out of what would have been a bad situation. I think he was sober after a tour with the UK Subs, he came home from that at cleaned his shit up.

Favorite/least favorite genre: Hard Rock is favorite, new country is worst.

Favorite artist: Jimi Hendrix, Black Sabbath, UFO, Soundgarden I couldn't pick one but those are a few of my favorite bands.

First/most recent album acquired: First was Air Supply All out of Love on 45 LOL. Most recent was Soundgarden King Animal, which actually has 2-3 bad ass songs on it.

First/most recent concert or show:
First Show was Devo at the Filmore, most recent was Michael Schenker Group.

Sabbath and Aerosmith at MSG... shiiiite man I would have loved to have been to that one.

That's awesome. I got to know a lot of guys through the East Bay scene but never crossed paths with Lars. He had pretty much blown up with Rancid at that point.

Favorite/least favorite genre: I don't really have a favorite genre of music. I have a wide range of music I'll listen to depending on how I'm feeling or I guess you could say want to relive a moment in time through music. The other day I spent a good amount of time listening to some old Minisry, KMFDM and some Front 242.
A few weeks before that I was grooving out to Tibe Called Quest and Afrika Bambaataa. I'll run the gambit in music from the Sugar Cubes to The Cult and then over to old school Harry Connick Jr.
Anything but country don't care for it at all ( aside from Johnny Cash)

Favorite artist: Won't give you a favorite but, I respect bands that have longevity. Bands like Depeche Mode, U2 and Areosmith always will hold a place in my heart. If I jump in my truck the radio is either on talk radio or the classic rock station

First/most recent album acquired: My first album was Queen "News of the World" I really can't remember the last CD or what ever I downloaded. If I am in the mood for something I'll just dig it up on YouTube or Pandora or something.

First/most recent concert or show:
First show I ever went to was Joan Jett at the Daytona Band shell back in the early/mid 80's. Free show mom dropped us off... Other than that... I wasn't ever a real concert guy... Used to go to a ton of "Raves" saw all the biggest DJ's in the late 80's and early 90's. Saw Nine in Nails, KMFDM, Filter Ministry, Depeche, quite a few others too. Aside from shows at Epcot I haven't been to a concert in almost 20 years.

Yah how could I not include Johnny in there. Also a huge reggae fan. Can't get tired of listening to that shit. I also liked some of the old school hip hop. Bambatta was one of the originals

I dig me some reggae... Gregory Isaacs was the man.

Old school hip-hop was the great... same energy as punk rock really. Now it's more like hair metal.

Gregory, Bob, Jimmy Cliff. Love Ska too.

Have you listened to any of the Marley boys? I swear Steven sounds just like Bob.

I'm sure you're referring to traditional Ska but I like some of the modern "Ska influenced" stuff... Sublime, Op Ivy, etc.

Yah Its pretty uncanny they sound just like their dad. Saw the the original Skatalites when they were in St. Pete a while back. They were already pretty old then. Am guessing most of them are gone. I like some of the English beat too. Madness, The Specials, UB 40.
