Marquette King

So, yes, we know what he does. He’s a football player, lover of music, and a natural comedian among his friends, but who is Marquette King? Someone who is not influenced by what’s going on around him and a man who desires to spread light to everyone he meets. To put it simply, here is how he believes life should be:

“Everybody being themselves and not worrying about what other people think about them. … It’s just loving one another. Encouraging one another. And being positive.”

ESPN article

I'm gonna say this again. Listen up King.

You're a fucikng kicker. Nothing more. Just like your other loud mouth friend Lechler.

So STFU from now on and just do what you do. Nothing more is require of you.

Commitment to Nazism? (See Hannah Arendt's study of Eichmann -- what gives us the cliché of "I was just following orders."

It is hard to underestimate what someone like King can do. First of all, he's a top-shelf punter, booming leg and getting ever better at placement and getting it inside the ten. Oh, and athletic enough to take a botched snap for a first down.

Beyond that, he likes being himself -- and who he is makes others feel better. As tense and intense as the game can be, a seventeen week season in which one bad play is the difference between winning the division or getting the fifth seed, one sack in 622 pass block attempts is the one that shelves your QB. In that kind of atmosphere, a guy who you can see is working his ass off as hard as you but doing it with the sheer exuberant joy of a child -- can really help.

Don't mind Bones. There is a nation-wide shortage of Milk of Magnesia and his overcrowded colon is making him cranky...

Dude's the best punter in the league, i wouldn't trade him for any other punter, I don't give any fucks about the bs people complaining about it's sport and entertainment if any other punter did the same thing it would be called "good fun"

this did catch my attention tho...

He's actually not the best punter in the league.

you know what, if he was an all pro punter and was just bad ass I'd be ok with all his flamboyancy. But he's really inconsistent (after a really good start this year) and dude got straight punked by KC. That flag waving thing was GAF and he got a penalty for it, fucking Punters should never get that kind of penalty... Anyway I'm with you @CrossBones. STFU and punt.

He's a punter. BFD. :shakehead:

You're a Raider fan, right?

Did you know that over a seven year period the League record for punt return yardage in a season was owned by Raiders -- three different guys.

Special teams don't play that many snaps per game, but they determine both offensive and defensive field position. The punter is the guy who helps the O when it stalls deep by flipping the field, and helps the D when the O does anything by pinning the opposing O deep.

King has gotten better by a lot each season. As punters go, he's very young, not even one-sixth of the way into his career. He's a weapon, and that matters. Yes, the last few games he didn't do as well, wonder how much that's related to the pressure he put on himself to kick the hell out of the ball or play it fine in order to help the team after Carr got hurt the first time.

Like the rest of the team, King's play went to shit after Carr's injury too.

His play went to shit after getting dressed down by Jack Del Rio for doing stupid stuff that cost the Raiders yards, points and maybe a game. He seemed to have lost is mojo somewhat after that. I don't mind flamboyant personalities and guys being themselves, but you have to know when to pump the brakes on the "all eyes on me" stuff.
