Mark Davis to sell Raiders. Details on the 11 o'clock news!

They'll tease it for the whole broadcast and then at 1059 it will be some 5 second bullshit blurb about maybe kind of would shoulda coulda.

someone who thinks we don't hover over links, what is this, 2005?

Well of course it isn't! Rick Astley is old as fuck these days, and I needed something sufficiently bizarre and unknown to link to.

Oakland mayor met with Goodell about new stadium

San Diego officials recently met with NFL officials in an effort to keep the Chargers in town. A prominent Oakland official has done the same thing, regarding the Raiders.

Via Scott Bair of CSNBayArea.com, NFL executive V.P. Eric Grubman said that Oakland mayor Libby Schaaf met earlier this month with Commissioner Roger Goodell. Like the first meeting between San Diego and the NFL, it was an introductory session.

“The Mayor outlined visions and goals at a general level,” Grubman told Bair via email. “No specific proposal was discussed. Roger encouraged dialogue, and he stressed that there was a need to have a specific and actionable plan put forward soon.”

In that meeting, Scaaf and Goodell agreed that Grubman will visit Oakland after everyone has a chance to evaluate Floyd Kephart’s proposal for bridging the gap between the private contribution and the total cost of a new Oakland stadium. In past years, that gap would be bridged with public money. Nowadays, that’s much harder to do.

The details of Kephart’s proposal still aren’t widely known. At some point, they will be. At some point, the proposal will have significant influence over whether the Raiders stay in Oakland.
