Picks 254 and 255 are supplemental compensatory picks (based upon draft-order formula) to fulfill the number of draft choices permitted by agreement with the NFL Players Association in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Best thing CW did for us in years. And we don't get Mr. Irrelevent for a change. Good. I can't stand the press around that pick - a nobody who generally does not stick. Neither the Donkeys or the Chefs sniffed a comp pick this year, but SD (thanks Brees) picked up a 3rd and a 5th!

I think our draft picks look like this now:

1 1
2 33
3 65
3 99
4 100
5 138
5 165
6 175
7 211
7 254

I love picking 99th and 100th at the end of round 3. I like acquiring 5 of the best 100 available.

Yeah, me too. At least you didn't search all known corners of the nfl universe for twenty minutes trying to find a complete list...;)

Man we are gonna have a whole new group of guys in here next year. This is exciting news. We might be able to trade back up into the first round.

Fuckin rites!

I stand corrected guys, apologies for thinking they would bone us out of a 3rd rounder... :)

I would place that proposition at about 50/50, if not better. I've thought that for awhile, because the Raiders have two sexy picks, 2.1 and 4.1.

2.1 is coveted because teams get to grab a guy they thought was a 1st round talent, and pay him 2nd round money. 4.1 always seems to be a good pick, as teams get a few hours to decompress, and the team at 4.1 also has about 15 hours to listen to trade offers, as opposed to 5 minutes.

Trade up targets I could see: Meacham, Ginn, Staley, Branch, Lynch.

San Diego (Drew Brees, $10.0 million, 16 Games Played/16 Games Started, Pro Bowl)
San Francisco (Julian Peterson , $7.714 million, 16/16, Pro Bowl)
Indianapolis (Edgerrin James, $7.5 million, 16/16)

FOURTH ROUND
Oakland (Charles Woodson, $5.576 million, 16/16)
Pittsburgh (Chris Hope, $5.098 million, 16/16)
Atlanta (Kevin Shaffer, $5.143 million, 16/16)
Baltimore (Anthony Weaver, $5.3 million, 15/15)

FIFTH ROUND
Indianapolis (David Thornton, $4.45 million, 16/13)
Baltimore (Ma'ake Kemoeatu, $4.6 million, 16/14)
Pittsburgh (Antwaan Randle El, $4.464 million, 16/16)
New England (David Givens, $4.8 million, 5/5, placed on IR)

SIXTH ROUND
Indianapolis (Larry Tripplett, $3.607 million, 16/16)
Baltimore (Chester Taylor, $3.5 million, 15/15)
Cincinnati (Jon Kitna, $2.875 million, 16/16)
Baltimore (Will Demps, $2.28 million, 16/16)
New England (Tom Ashworth, $2.6 million, 16/6)
Seattle (Marquand Manuel, $2.0 million, 16/16)
New England (Adam Vinatieri, $2.4 million, 13 GP)

SEVENTH ROUND
Tampa Bay (Dexter Jackson, $1.85 million, 12/11)
San Diego (Justin Peelle, $1.5 million, 15/10)
Green Bay (Craig Nall, $1.423 million, 0/0)
Atlanta (Barry Stokes, $1.092 million, 11/11)
St. Louis (Rex Tucker, $1.217 million, 6/5, placed on IR)
San Diego (Reche Caldwell, $1.006 million, 16/14)
Tampa Bay (Jameel Cook, $1.020 million, 12/6)
Kansas City (Tony Richardson, $1.078 million, 9/7)
New England (Tim Dwight, $1.063 million, 9/2, placed on IR)
San Francisco (Anthony Clement, $750,000, 16/16)
St. Louis (Jamie Martin, $1.005 million, 16/0)
Jacksonville (Kenny Wright, $750,000, 16/9)
Minnesota (Raonall Smith, $755,000, 16/0)
Atlanta (Kevin McCadam, $765,000, 16/0)

Props to Adam for nailing most picks.

Come to think of it, when we were all hating on Woodson, I bet there wasnt a soul in the house who wouldnt have traded C-Wood for a third rounder... :)

Worked out great for us. Nnamdii, Routt and Fabs all showed flashes and could be a dominating force on a top 10 defense, and we get a quality pick on day one.

No apologies necessary, given some of the comp picks handed out in the past.

I wouldn't have. But then, I was a complete Woodson homer. That said, I am glad that he finally stayed healthy all year and did something productive for the Raiders! ;)

Some of us never hated on Woodson. We defended him against the constant nonsensical bs that spewed from the mouths of haters. Some of us even adopted GB as a team to root for when they aren't playing Oakland and saw Wood dominate in the NFC.

Defending C-Wood...Thats great.

Personally, Im more the type of guy to cheer for the team oriented, hard worker types, but whatever floats your boat.

Not a fan of oft-injured, overpaid primadonnas, who don't spend any time in the weight room or the film room and get suspended for skipping curfew...And publicly rip on coaches, management etc.

He was a cancer, and I'd rather save the 8million a year and have a third round pick.

To each his own though, I guess...

I don't even want to hear that "suspended for skipping curfew" stuff, given that ALL accounts say that Callahan levied that suspension completely capriciously and the rest of the DBs considered walking out in protest. And the coach that he publicly ripped on? Yeah, that's the guy that Tim Brown said had players wanting to literally knock him the fuck out in the lockerroom - something that Jerry Rice confirmed later on ESPN radio. Further, while you can bag on his reputed lack of work ethic, it remains that when he was healthy, even without film study, he was better than 99% of the cornerbacks in the NFL. It also remains that, while you call him a cancer, every DB on the team looked up to him.

I'm not going to lament his leaving because I think it was probably time for it to happen (and Nnamdi flourished afterwards)... but let's not rip the guy over nonsense either. You want to say that he didn't study film? Okay, enough credibly people have said it that it is more likely than not. You want to say that he got hurt too often? Yeah, well... history shows that to be true.

But...

The guy played balls out when he was healthy and he was among the best cornerbacks in the NFL. And, for those of you who would complain about the "Franchise money" he made, the guy played out all 6 years of his rookie contract without any complaints or hold-outs. Regardless of the fact that he went to Green Bay, you can't take that away from the guy.

He was a very talented cornerback and a good Raider throughout the vast majority of his tenure.

Just my opinion.

He was talented, and 'better than 99% when healthy'

Doesnt change the fact he was oft-injured, underachieving and overpaid.

I have a C-Wood jersey on my wall...Doesnt mean Im blind to the obvious.

Defending suspensions, injuries and a severe lack of work ethic...Gimme a break.

Personally, I feel as though we made out like bandits on that deal. We got to give Fabs, Huff and Aso starter time, we received a day one pick and we saved ten million dollars we'll hopefully use on a team oriented CB...Asomugha.

I'm defending the suspension because it deserves defending. Al Davis came out later and stated that he didn't know that Callahan was going to do that and, if he did, would have pushed him in a different direction. Multiple players on the team stated that there was no precedence and no warning. Tim Brown even suggested that Bill Callahan was literally TRYING to get fired.

And the injuries? I wasn't aware that I had to defend them. If a guy gets hurt, he gets hurt. That's the game. It doesn't mean, however, that the guy is suddenly a piece of shit.

And as for the "overpaid" I'll state again that Woodson made 4 straight Pro-Bowls to start off his career and never once made a peep about renegotiating his contract. Clinton Portis had ONE GOOD YEAR with the Broncos and wanted a new deal, you know what I'm saying? Was he overpaid his last two years here? Yep, you bet your ass. But was he UNDERpaid on his rookie contract? Yep, you bet your ass.

Wow, I was going to chime in but you did a more than adequate job of defending my boy. The only thing I care about is results on Sunday, and with CWood you always got results. He played his ass off, took his receiver out of the game on most days and never left anything on the gridiron.

10 picks including 4 on the first day should enable us to do some damage, especially with the master talent evaluator on board.

Not to mention we have another pick that a 1st day talent will definitely fall to in #100. If we can pull off a trade down from #1 we may even be able to add 2 more first day picks this season. Lets hope we don't blow this draft.

When I posted this, I calculated wrong on the NE Pick in the 5th Round. It is #166 overall not #165.
Sorry.

Wow a Chuck Woodson debate... party like it's 2005 baby... :p

My feelings about Wood are still the same... I like the guy and am definitley not a hater, but feel he's a player who should have been consistently great year in, year out considering his God given physical tools... We should be talking about him in the same breath as the likes of Hall of Famers Rod Woodson, Darrell Green, Mike Haynes etc... Who knows, had he taken a workman Rod Woodson like approach to film study and offseason conditioning, we probably would be IMO... Had he studied game tendancies on film more, he probably wouldn't have been flagged as often for grabbing and holding as he did...

I still don't think we should have paid the franchise loot to Wood those last two years but that's water under the proverbial bridge... The future is bright with Nnamdi and Fabs... I haven't felt this good about a corner tandom since we had the uber professional Eric Allen paired with the young Wood out there... I'm happy Wood bounced back and had a solid year... It worked out well for both sides... He got the contract he was looking for, we got a great comp pick and Nnamdi stepped in at strongside corner and had an "early" Woodson kind of year...
