there is some funky stuff with post june first cuts and guarantees that would happen before then. Again - I'm no expert but I know if you have that designation - some of those guarantees could come due. We likely just cut him for the 11 in savings before the league year starts.

So it’s more like taking 11 million off his 28 million then working out the figures from that point. If we had June 1st him he would have technically received the roster bonus therefore it’s better to just save the 11 now

This suspension is notable because it should void the $11.25 million salary guarantee that Garoppolo has for 2024 which makes things far easier for the Raiders to release Garoppolo. This will bring his dead money figure down from $28.4 million to $17.1 million and also avoid having to make any cash payments following his release. Garoppolo has a roster bonus due on the 5th day of the league year so his release would be processed before that.

Money now is better than money later. 24MM leaves a lot of left over space that has not much functional use until 2025.

It can still be done, it's just rather pointless.

yeah, it's kind of looking at two things at once.

They were never going to pay 11.25 of the 22.5, now they're just not going to pay the other 11.25 either.

I think most of the narrative now is WHEN as opposed to IF. At least what I read.
 
Maybe they convinced Jimmy to take the pills. Then after he’s released Mark will make a small $$ deposit in Jimmy’s bank account.
