2021 Mock Draft Thread

MJD is pretty horrible with his mocks so I'm confident we won't be taking JOK now.
With Littleton, Morrow, Abram, KuJo, Heath, Muse and White, got to hope there is an equally talented player at #17 that is not as redundant as JOK. But we need an impact defender or a good, plug-n-play RT.

From Parsons falling into our lap to trading up for Horn. :shakehead:

Jonathan Jones’ latest mock for CBS Sports. A noted NFL reporter, Jones has an eye-opening scenario involving the Las Vegas Raiders. In his mock, Jones has the Raiders trading up from No. 17 to No. 14 with the Minnesota Vikings to take South Carolina cornerback Jaycee Horn. In the deal, the Raiders also send No. 79 in the third round to the Vikings. That is the pick that the Raiders got in the Rodney Hudson trade with the Arizona Cardinals last month.

Ugh. Can he really play RT?

Another day, another draft prospect on Jon Gruden’s radar. In a matter of 24 hours, the name Alijah Vera-Tucker has been tossed around in two separate reports on the Raiders.

“One name that I started hearing about over the weekend. It’s Alijah Vera-Tucker out of USC, an interior lineman,” Sports Illustrated‘s Hondo Carpender said on Monday on the Pritch and Clay radio show. “I’m hearing that the Raiders, the more they look the more they like. This is a guy slotted somewhere between [picks] 12 and 15.”

On Tuesday, ESPN’s Mel Kiper released his latest mock draft and he has the Raiders taking Vera-Tucker at pick 17. “The Raiders overhauled their offensive line this offseason, trading away tackle Trent Brown, guard Gabe Jackson and center Rodney Hudson,” Kiper wrote. “Maybe general manager Mike Mayock and coach Jon Gruden knew they could address the O-line in Round 1 because it’s a deep class, but they still have voids to fill. Vera-Tucker is my top-ranked guard, but he really came into his own while playing left tackle for the Trojans last season. He could play either spot for Las Vegas.”

I'm probably going to be waaaaaaay off but I have a little feeling we could end up taking AVT and throwing him at RG and having Good slide out to RT. Give Good a full offseason to train at RT and I think he could be at least average there and an improvement over what we had last year. Miller/Incognito/James/AVT/Good... that's a solid OL to me.

Not an awful plan, especially if Cable has a woody for Spencer Brown or Tommy Doyle.

I actually like JOK but if we take him at 17 he better be a Darius Leonard type stud.

I think we could be looking at him as a Derwin James type hybrid. It’s a shame he didn’t run because they match up pretty close otherwise from a physical profile.

I don't have confidence in Good manning the RT position all season. In a pinch, that's fine. All season? No.

Very Raider like draft. Draft a player for guard at 17 overall. He better be the next coming of John Hannah.

Mind you, he was a RT with the Colts before he came here. He played RT at least once in relief of Brown and I thought he played better than either Parker/Young did but we tossed him back to guard due to a constant need there with Richie/Jackson both being out the last two years. AVT could come in and fill RG or RT and do it well but I think my preferred combo, if we went that route, would be AVT at RG and Good at RT.

If JOK is the Derwin James guy, what is Abram?

Caleb Farley anyone? :coffee:

17. LAS VEGAS RAIDERS: CB CALEB FARLEY, VIRGINIA TECH
Arguably the best corner available when healthy, Caleb Farley has been rapidly slipping down draft boards — from a borderline top-10 pick at his peak to somewhere in the bottom third of the round, according to PFF’s Mock Draft Simulator. Farley dealt with multiple back issues during his college career, and that will always scare teams, but if he checks out medically (and he reportedly did at the medical re-checks in Indianapolis), then the Raiders are the kind of team that would fall in love with his physical tools.

I have never seen a corner with the kind of recovery speed and burst to the football that Farley has. Those are traits the Raiders above most teams would find it very difficult to pass up.
