2021 Offseason Roster/Depth Chart

Maxx on NFLN talking about his first two years and being a year sober. Said it's year three for the guys in his draft class and 8-8 'isn't acceptable'. Hard not to like the dude and he's been one, if not the best, player on this defense since he got here. If he could turn it up a notch and have Yannick on the other side draw more attention to him I could see him having a big year. Need more consistency from him and hopefully Ferrell/Nassib can do their part in keeping Crosby/Yannick fresh coming off the edge on 3rd downs.

Maxx needs to add some moves. So far he's a one trick pony. His engine will get him there sometimes but he doesn’t have all the tools the big boys have yet.

My hope for Maxx in year 3 is that he keeps up the same pressure and just doesn't lose contain as much as the past 2 years. Just *that* would take him into a new level of valuable.

The amount of publicity Crosby is handling this offseason for the team seems to support that he’ll be the “starter” opposite Ngakoue, not Ferrell. While I believe all three of them will log 750 or so snaps if healthy, as Yannick does not log more than that, we have not heard anything from Ferrell this offseason.

Ingold and Moreau were for sure at the 'practice' with John Brown, I paused the video and could see them clearly in the background. I'm pretty sure Ruggs was there as well but tougher to tell but a guy on Reddit said some trainer IG pic had him and Waller there too... so that's a plus at least.

Hahaha. Josh posted that Drake is no Bowden. :rotf:

Sure but won't matter if it's not more productive. Drake has averaged 1.0 yards per route run when lined up out of backfield w/ 4 plays in 5 seasons for 10+ yards. For comparison, Lynn Bowden averaged 1.49 yards per route run when lined up wide for Dolphins last year

So Indi gets applauded for spending $9.4M to have the best perceived RB room in the NFL:

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS RUNNING BACKS
It’s hard to say there is another team in the NFL that can match Indianapolis' three-deep running back depth entering the 2021 season.

Jonathan Taylor made it clear with his performance down the stretch in his rookie season that he will be the lead back moving forward. From Week 11 through the end of the regular season, his 90.9 overall grade ranked second at the running back, behind only Derrick Henry. His 446 rushing yards after contact and 33 missed tackles forced on the ground ranked second and third, respectively, at the position over that stretch, as well.

Runs like he has against the Raiders became a relatively frequent occurrence. The reason that the Colts' running backs find themselves on this list isn’t just because of Taylor, though. The depth and complementary elements that Nyheim Hines and a returning Marlon Mack bring to the table push the group as a whole toward the top of the league.

Hines, in particular, was excellent as a receiver out of the backfield in 2020. His 91.7 receiving grade was easily the highest mark at the running back position, and he averaged 1.83 receiving yards per route run (fourth among running backs with at least 100 routes). Cycling in Hines and Mack behind Taylor should keep all three fresh and give Indianapolis one of the better rushing attacks in the league behind what is (mostly) a strong offensive line.

Hmmm. But signing Drake, who by all accounts is better than Mack, was idiotic? We cut Richard (net $7.155M) or Reddick (net $9.755M) to have a 3-person RB room, I don’t see a difference:
Total: $10,654,563

Wide 9’s ;)

Nothing to read into regarding Ferrell though IMO. Maxx is just putting himself out there on his own.

Doing good work, but having to wait a little for compensation.

Maxx Crosby gets the most performance based pay bonus for the #Raiders at just over $530,000. Agholor got more than $400,000 and Mullen about $363,000

As part of last year's negotiations over a salary-cap shortfall, the performance based pay was deferred a few years. Players will receive this season's payouts in 2024 or later. Here's the whole list: https://nflpaweb.blob.core.windows....ff&esid=269802ab-dc96-eb11-b1ac-000d3a106e82…

Kolton Miller's Contract for the #Raiders is a Huge Steal. 21 & 22 sees Kolton get a Raise, but on the backend, Kolton’s really helping the team out:
  • 2021 $4M -> $13.4M
  • 2022 $11M -> $16.8M
  • 2023 $14.2M
  • 2024 $12.3M
  • 2025 $12.3M
Presumably, the team retained the right to convert Kolton’s base salary in 2021, 2022, 2023, etc. into bonus money if/as cap space is needed.

It's what the Raiders did with Carr and what they did with Brown.

Only works if they get an ascending player. Brown was abject failure due to injuries and lack of commitment. Carr only works if they don't give new contract now that he's at or below market rate.

Hope is that Kolton continues to improve, thus paying Miller at market rate for 21/22 and under market for 23-25. Same to be said for James.

Agreed. But it does not limit cap flexibility, as Littleton proved. The team can convert salaries into bonus money. In terms of investment, Kolton has none of Brown’s red flags. And instead of giving out big signing bonuses, the Raiders just front load salaries.

I’ve heard Ferrell was between 270-280 lbs. and that they do plan on using him inside more. But I haven’t seen him and that could all be bullshit.

Wanna say it was talked about in Moving the Chains one afternoon fairly recently but I could be wrong.

Dude needs to stop missing games though.

I wonder if Ferrell can set an edge and have Yanni fly around that to get to QB the way SF used to do with Justin Smith and Aldon Smith

I said that exact same thing a while back, after the Detroit game his rookie year I believe, and got my head bit off in here lol.

That’s a play they ran a few times with Beasley late last year and it got pressure a few times. I could see that being a game they run 4-5 times a game.

Mullen and Robertson apparently working out together.

ilaqmn94psr61.jpg

I like Mullen. Needs to be more consistent. And needs to stop laying on the field acting like he’s dying every week only to be in a play or two later. I think we all have kinda noticed that. I always enjoy @gst8 comments when he does that shit lol.
