Free Agency is 2+ months away....let's get it on.

Needs: Everywhere on Defense (really need help with front 7). Offense: Guard, Right Tackle.

Ryan Holmes
Dec 21

Potential free agent S target for Raiders along with Justin Simmons and Marcus Maye.
Defense line: Leonard Williams from the Giants.
Shaquil Barrett from the Bucs.
One of the more efficient pass-rushers in the league over the past few years, Barrett has put up solid production whether in a part-time or full-time role. He’s graded “in the green” as both a run defender and as a pass-rusher in all five years of his career, as he sets a hard edge in the run game and wins with good hands and a variety of moves when attacking the pocket.

John Johnson III: PFF's highest-graded NFC safety (86.7) #ProBowl | #ProBowlSnub
It’s probable that Johnson will test the safety market this March, and if it’s not viable for him, he could return to the Rams for an extension.

I wouldn't hate on signing Allen Robinson. He consistently showcases excellent hands and contested-catch skills, dropping no more than three passes in a season since his time in Jacksonville. Robinson consistently grades out as a borderline top-10 receiver with one of the worst quarterback situations in the league, and he is still just 27 years old. His ceiling with a high-end quarterback could be special.

Bud Dupree, Judon, Allen Robinson would be at the top of my wish list. That safety from the Donks too

This is probably unpopular in these parts, but I wouldn't dip into FA this year. In last two years, we've brought in: Collins, Littleton, Kwit, Joyner, Witten, and Trent Brown. That's in addition to trading for Antonio Brown, Zay Jones, and that GB scrub, David. The best FA we may have right now is Agholor. FA doesn't work for us. In last 10 years, Hudson is it. Gruden got a 10 year contract to build a team the right way: draft picks and player development. Put or shut up time for this regime- develop the guys on the roster.

That's not to say no FAs, every team signs a few- but they need to be cheap and bottom of roster guys.

I'm looking at D and specifically DL and Safety. Soloman Thomas, Leonard Williams, Sheldon Rankins, Larry Ogunjobi, Judon, Barrett, Leonard Floyd, Ryan Kerrigan, Suh on the DL. Harris, Simmons, Maye, Mills, Woods, Johnson, Neal, bring KuJo back - some interesting options there.

So what’s your gameplan?

Well using this logic then we shouldn't draft QB's because with the exception of Carr, we haven't drafted anyone worth shit since the Stabler days. You do it until you get it right. I really do believe that PG had a lot to do with the horrible play of our defensive FA's the past two years.

Let’s say we hire Wade Philips to coach the D. He’ll most likely move Joyner back to safety so that would be one less position to account for. I don’t think that Leonard is getting away from the Giants. I’d like to draft our pass rushing DT in the first round and use the other picks for depth. I’d like to resign Williams at WR as well.

Defensive tackle is one of the weakest position groups for this upcoming draft.

I’m way behind on watching this draft class but Marvin Wilson seems to be the only interior pass rusher even close to the first round right now.

Ok. So is there an interior lineman that we could trade for.

I’d throw a first rounder at Grady Garrett.

Not sure they’d even pick up the phone but I’d try.

This is assuming we stay with a 4-3.

Edit: forget about it. ATL can’t absorb the cap hit anyway.

Like I said, DTs in this upcoming draft = weak. Maybe some are intriguing in later rounds.

Marvin Wilson, DT, Florida State (No. 40): A player with impressive highlights, Wilson’s snap-to-snap consistency leaves you wanting more, and now he is done for the rest of the season with a leg injury.

It is hard to grade Wilson as anything more than a rotational player at this point.

I’d just avoid spending big bucks in FA on anyone. This franchise is awful at FA. I’d Look at the second tier guys, go with guys from teams with studs in front of them who are younger and add a DT or two, and depth at LB. if there is one position at which I’d throw some real money it’s safety. No more Harris, Heath or any of that shit. Then again those guys are so bad nearly anyone in FA is better.

on offense, I’d look at depth signings for o line.
