I think its around 50k in Baltimore and that's a crazy city to be a police officer in. Not nearly enough for me to want to go work there and I could haha. Maybe there needs to be a third party that's not connected with real true oversight so those people can be fired or held accountable. The courts let cops get away with all types of shit. Police corruption runs wild in Baltimore. I also know its bad in NJ and Philly which are the other two cities close to me. Two other places that I wouldn't want to police for 50k! And I love all those places. But we like in a world where bankers and corporate executives steal all the money. Pay cops 150k a year and stop paying House & Senate reps 180K a year. Why should corrupt politicians get paid 4 times as much? Shit like that is the problem.
Reminds me of the homeless veteran and VA hospital issues. How are those not handled with our budget for military? Shit like that is perplexing.
50k in a city that size is crazy. Can’t even fathom it for what they deal with. Explains a lot though.
BTW - the VA is it’s own entity separate from the military when it comes to budget. The local VSO actually falls under the department I work in. It’s actually the division that gets put up for the most funding cuts because we know the board of supervisors will never green light cutting services to veterans.
