Random Thoughts

So now there are conflicting autopsy reports... or least an independent autopsy ordered by Floyd’s family that conflicts with the medical examiner’s preliminary report.

Michael Baden. Probably the emminent forensic pathologist in the country along with that Henry Lee dude. Yah I'm going to trust the Hennepin County Medical examiner over him.

I only caught it in passing, but he also seemed to be asking us to start taking this virus thing more seriously. Something about preferring we not have to start mandating a bunch of shit and enforcing it. I guess we're not doing a very good job here of flattening the curve. Based on what I've seen, that's unsurprising. 90% of the masks I see are all the way down on people's chins. Maybe we really do need a little structure and discipline down here. :pound:

Decades of wearing those Pulp Fiction leather gimp masks and you guys still can't grasp the concept?

The government should stop wasting our tax money on horse shit and make policing a high paying, highly trained job.

You have to got to school for 4 plus years just to teach kindergarten. Train the police way longer and vet them properly. If you wanna see better police make the job financially desirable. Why are cops known for having major issues with domestic violence, mental illness & alcoholism/addiction? Bc its attaching broken people who don't need to be very qualified. Make that job competitive and people will act responsibly to keep their cushy life. A police chief won't let no funky shit go down if he is scared shitless of being fired or losing his $. Money talks. That job also makes good people depressed, violent and lawless. The entire system needs to be revamped.

Body cameras, higher training standerds, diversity, oversight... more finical support / less hours. WAYYYYYYY more mental health support. These are things that could be done. Every cop show doesn't have to be so got damned depressing haha.

Also, why no tazers, pepper spray, sound control etc. Why always lethal force in 2020. We went to space and we can still only shoot metal wildly at people to arrest them. Weaksauce.

In my city they start just shy of six figures not counting overtime, uniform/body armor allowances, health benefits, and a kick ass retirement plan. A veteran officer makes well into six figures without ever really having to achieve rank. Police chief maxes out around 224k base salary and rank and file guys have been known to take home more than that with their OT. It’s so competitive that having a four year degree is an unofficial requirement. Law enforcement and firefighters have always been a career that bridges the lower and middle class to upper class.

And I just got a text from the city that a 8pm-5am curfew is in effect. Two nights in a row that they’ve vandalized and destroyed property downtown. My wife works in the courts and protestors have surrounded the building. What a shit show.

I think its around 50k in Baltimore and that's a crazy city to be a police officer in. Not nearly enough for me to want to go work there and I could haha. Maybe there needs to be a third party that's not connected with real true oversight so those people can be fired or held accountable. The courts let cops get away with all types of shit. Police corruption runs wild in Baltimore. I also know its bad in NJ and Philly which are the other two cities close to me. Two other places that I wouldn't want to police for 50k! And I love all those places. But we like in a world where bankers and corporate executives steal all the money. Pay cops 150k a year and stop paying House & Senate reps 180K a year. Why should corrupt politicians get paid 4 times as much? Shit like that is the problem.

Reminds me of the homeless veteran and VA hospital issues. How are those not handled with our budget for military? Shit like that is perplexing.

I’d like to see officers in high crime areas make more and work less. Take it out of the military budget. It’s such a thankless job. Imagine being subjected to nothing other than bad shit on a daily basis. It can turn even the most positive rookie coming out of the academy into a jaded head case real fast. I honestly don’t have any answers other than higher more minority cops to patrol minority areas. It sounds like segregation and really stupid, but I don’t have any good answers.

Curfew here in LA county starts at 5:00 pm.

According to our president, governors are being too soft.

Maybe with a bit of provocation, we can get to shooting and bombing. Wouldn't that be just peachy. OR They could convene congress and make an emergency session to make federal rules for police behavior and federal anti-hate laws specifically targeting police violence and actually try to solve problems.

The bloody girl in the thumbnail wasn't protesting. She was shopping nearby and got hit with a stray rubber bullet from the storm troopers I mean police. The irony of of it all, lol. A protest against police violence that turns the police violent and the violence hits white people who are ignoring the problems shopping nearby. Forcing them to be involved. Wow.
