Thought we should have a thread for what's coming soon....the '20 sched is supposed to be released May 9 and at this point if it wasn't coming they'd of already said so.
In '19, we had 2 'primetime' games on national TV, but with the new stadium, and especially one supported by a city which contributed $750mil, the NFL is surely gonna go out of it's way to add attention and circumstance to our diggs. I think it's safe to say we should at a minimum either match or exceed last years national games, but my gut tells me it's gonna be 5!
The lead LVRJ beatwriter is already speculating on how he thinks the first game could go...https://twitter.com/VinnyBonsignore/status/1257082548179501056
Personally, I think that's not only a pretty good guess but could possibly be a little 'unofficial' insight he's been leaked. And it's not like it would be much of a stretch, we've helped to kickoff the past two seasons as the second game of the MNF doubleheader, vs Rams in '18 and Donks in '19. Both at Oakland. Not much of a stretch to them returning us to that national game to close out the weekend, also highlighting Marsha and her new team along the way.
The other good news however could be that, in light of all the changes and uncertainties due to the 'Rona, it's likely that the sched makers also give us mulitple games throughout the year to ensure that if there are changes, our stadium and new city are recognized and celebrated multiple times. My guess is, we end up with 5 total primetime 'national' games, with a crazy FOUR at home and one away. The NFL knows what a unicorn looks like, it's a $2 billion dollar Death Star whose costs were nearly split by public funds. In fact, that's more than a unicorn these days and in the years ahead, it's a unicorn with testicles of gold! What happened in Vegas, in this case, is not something they want to 'stay' in Vegas. So it's in the NFL's best interest, hate for the Raiders or not, to put our new palace on full viral display, and the best way to do that is to scatter us throughout the year all over the national spotlight.
As a precursor, here's our '20 opponents:
Considering the options, if in fact the NFL does decide to once again include us in the opening weekend MNF sched, it's hard to find a more intriguing story than the Bucs and Marsha coming to the Death Star......unlesssssssss the NFL decides to get reallllll slick and truly throw Vegas a major bone, they could make our game the NFL KICKOFF game matchup with the SB champion KC Chefs!!!!
Now thaaaaat would be delicious!!! But I digress, not even sure what the 'Kickoff' game paramaters are. But you can't deny that would be the ultimate response by the league to reward Vegas for it's incredible investment!
