*** 2019 NFL Regular Season “Other Teams” Thread ***

We have homeless assaulting people everyday. We have thieves stealing less than $951 that DA publicly say they will not charge. But we will prosecute a football player for a fight? Because he had a helmet on his hand? Priorities.

Maybe it's just me but if this was a 'street' fight I'd say Rudolph deserved it. You're really going to chase a guy like Garrett down and try to get in his face when your big OL is pushing him away? Just stupid. But this isn't the 'street' and you obviously can't do what Garrett did... he needs to be suspended for the season at least. Garrett is really fucking young too and if he has another dirty play does he get suspended the year again like Burfict?

Myles Garrett assaulted a quarterback. Not just another player -- a QUARTERBACK. In a league in which defensive players can be flagged for even touching a QB under certain circumstances, he ripped off his helmet and then hit him in the head with it, a deliberate swing with a clear intent to do damage.

This is the NFL. It has its own priorities.

G.

Damn, looks like Rudolph instigated the whole thing. Because he didn't like getting tackled, he tried to rip Garrett's helmet off which then led to Garrett ripping his off. Then even after getting his helmet ripped off, Rudolph foolishly goes after Garrett at which point Garrett goes completely insane and whacks him over the head with it. Garrett has to get a lengthy suspension, but no way should Rudolph get out of this without some kind of suspension. And Pouncey should get multiple games also for the head kicks.
Rudolph’s a QB, the perceived victim, plays for the Steelers, who are in a playoff run, he won’t even get fined.

Garrett hit him late and then proceeded to 'give him the business' when he was on the ground. Rudolph was rightfully pissed and I commend him for at least getting in Garrett's face.

Just in:

Garrett suspended indefinitely (this season and playoffs for sure).
Ogunjobi suspended 1 game.
Pouncy suspended 3 games.

The league has announced other penalties from last night’s fight between the Browns and Steelers, in addition to the indefinite suspension of Browns defensive end Myles Garrett for swinging a helmet at Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph.

The league also announced that Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey was suspended three games, and Browns defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi was suspended one game, and both players would face further fines.

Pouncey said he “blacked out” while kicking Garrett on the ground after the swing, and he was immediately ejected from the game.

Ogunjobi was also ejected after shoving Rudolph to the ground.

The league also fined each team $250,0000.
NFL acted quickly. Pouncy got 1 game less than he should and 1 more than I thought he’d get. Ogunjobi is getting a raw deal. Rudolph fully deserved to be pounced on his ass. He was not punched or hit. Just a bigger guy saying hello and STFU.

NFL is likely waiting to see if criminal charges are brought against Garrett. Hopefully not. Don’t need that precedent.

Let your bias free man!

And there you have it... the instigator of the whole bruhaha gets away scot free...

I have no bias...I don't like either team. Watch the video dude...he hits him late...falls on him and then proceeds to push them before grabbing his facemask. I respect Rudolph for at least sticking up for himself.

How did he instigate it? Have you actually watched the video? All he did was stick up for himself after Garrett ripped his helmet off.

I did watch the video. Watched it live too. My conclusions remain the same:
  1. Fuck the Steelers
  2. Fuck Rudolph
  3. Fuck Pouncy

Wow...who needs to let their bias free?? Garrett started it...Rudolph got rightfully pissed and got in Garret's face...then Garrett had a meltdown of epic proportions.

I did watch the video, did you?? After being tackled, Rudolph is the one that started the rukus as he tried ripping off Garrett's helmet - which prompted Garrett to then rip off Rudolph's helmet. Rudolph was the instigator - if he doesn't go after Garrett's helmet, Garrett would have no reason to go after him and his helmet. Garrett was making a tackle on the QB which Rudolph didn't like.

:lmao:

It was beautiful. Like watching a train wreck. Of course I say this knowing that no one got hurt.

Garrett took a QB to the ground. Did he know the ball was out? Was it a little late? Was it unnecessary? Perhaps. But it was soft. No helmet to helmet. Not body flip or drop.

Rudolph took offense. To me, that is what started or escalated it. He went after Garrett’s head and helmet. And Garrett lost it. He was not going to be shown up by a punk QB, who was pissed b/c he threw 10 pics.

It should have ended there. But Rudolph stood up for himself, as you say. Garrett should not have cared and let it go. He should have dropped or even thrown Rudolph’s helmet and pointed to the scoreboard. But instead, in the heat of the moment, with a punk QB getting in his grill, he did something perhaps criminal.

Oh well. Not my team. Too bad Garrett won’t be on the field when they next play the Steelers.

The “late” hit is questionable (was a flag thrown?), within the realm of a normal football occurrence, and up to the officials to police. Rudolph took it to the next level by trying to rip his helmet off which everyone knows is about as taboo as it gets for football players. Jacobs basically just called Amari a homosexual for allowing it to happen to him. No way Rudolph is innocent here.

Pouncey should be suspended for the rest of the year for kicking a guy in the head when he was down. What a puss move. He got off way too easy.

Are we watching the same video? Garrett bear hugs him then then slings him to the ground. Rather than immediately rolling off of him he stays to push him a little. Rudolph starts pushing him off and then Garrett grabs his facemask and pulls him off the ground...ripping it off in the process. Rather than accept being punked Rudolph shows some cojones in getting in Garretts face.

You knew the NFL wasn’t going to punish the twerp.

The same thing in the past I read has garnered as low as 2 and as high as 5 games.

Apparently not. @gst8, we need a ruling.

I knew they wouldn’t but like I said earlier he’s probably worse off being allowed to play as bad as he is. That smug ass post game interview from him though... dude’s going to have a hard time in his next locker room I bet.
