Too many bad teams amigo.

Trade for Luck, maybe.

We're mediocre enough to win 5 games.

Crow

Not if they make the effort to suck. Kinda like the offense is doing today.

Tank both games to KC and we're in business.

007

Maybe it could happen.

I predicted 5 wins, I'm sticking with it.

Just terrible enough to miss out on a top ten talent.

A few trades prior to the deadline would help. Time to dangle some players out there and see what can be done to set things up for a fresh start next season.

Players not for sale
Denarius Moore

Derek Hagan
Kevin Boss
Darren McFadden
Marcel Reece

Jared Veldheer
Stefen Wisniewski

Janikowski

Trade anyone else for whatever you can get. Try to hang on to these core players and hope to hit on a few players with the late round picks you collect from this roster dump.

Worst case scenario: Suck for RG3.

It will be interesting... probably a pretty decent chance that team with #1 pick will have either picked a first round QB last year or already have a franchise QB (Manning)... but it will cost a fortune to make that trade. Not saying it wouldn't be worth it though...

Manning has a broken neck and is on the wrong side of 35. Would be a coups for Indi to get Luck and let him sit behind Manning for a year or two, assuming Manning is ever able to play again.

Also, Al once tried to trade three #1 picks to move up for John Elway. What better way to honor the old man than to do something crazy on draft day and have it work?

Yeah I've read he started early before playing, and quite a few guys grad in 3 years or 3 years and one semester.

I had a buddy who went to my University year-round taking 18 credits per semester (6 courses) and graduated with a double major in just over two years.

Girls, booze, parties etc. I would have stayed for five more if it was socially acceptable. :D

I know in Canada 80% of students take five years. Its all a cash grab.

At my school there would be co-requisites and pre-requisites you would need to take that would be at the exact same time, or only done once per year etc. Such a stupid system a lot of the time.

Problem with that is that it's going to take a Herschel Walker-type trade to land Luck. With the new rookie pay scale in place it makes that pick so much more valuable. We would need to part with at least 2 or 3 of our untouchables seeing as how we don't have enought picks to trade with.

Crow
10-09-2011, 08:17 PM
Three #1s in exchange for that #1 overall pick should get the job done, depending on where Oakland's pick is. Toss in this year's 3rd rounder. Just get the damn QB.

We don't have a 3rd rounder...burned it on Pryor. Teams with lots of high picks THIS year will have a much better chance of making a trade. If we want him we'll need to include some of our young players.

Crow
10-09-2011, 10:03 PM
Fucking Pryor. Forgot about that.

Still, waving a trio of #1s at a team that has a sense of the future would almost certainly get it done unless they're all about some Andrew Luck themselves.

Looks like a two-horse race between the Colts and Miami. It will probably come down to whoever has the weaker schedule. I guess that would favor the Colts since the AFC East is tougher than the AFC South.

Miami almost fucked up last week, but lucky for them QB Jesus saved the day.

Would have ben hilarious if both teams had to face each other in week 16 to "win" the suck crown.

That might have been Gump's only ticket back to the NFL. If you have a "must-lose" game, he'd be your guy. They'd need a WWE announcer, though. "Who's that coming out of the tunnel? OH MY GOD!!! It's Jamarcus Russell!!! The Dolphins are serious about losing this one...!"

People much smarter than I are sure Andrew Luck is an NFL star. He may be. But it's easier to play QB when it's 2nd-and-4 all the time.Truth.

Been watching a lot of Andrew Luck lately. He's good. He's really good. He's no John Elway -- not at all.

Stanford has a great OL. Reportedly two of them will be drafted high in the NFL. They have run for over 400 yards in one game (WA) and 300 last night against OSU. They average 225 yards/game. He's made a few horrendous throws when he's under pressure and has some work to do on his decision making. The pressure will only be intensified in the pros and likely he'll be playing behind an awful OL.

So while he's maybe the best "prospect" to come out for a long long time it's still the draft -- the mother of all crap shoots --- and there are no guarantees he will be the next Peyton Maning or John Elway. I'm pretty confident he'll be a good one in the pros but maybe the hype has been a little bit over the top.

Just sayin'. (I'd still give up 3 number 1's for him :D)

Depends on how Indy handles it. If they can manage to get Manning to agree to mentor Luck, they'll be gold. Having the best-prepared QB in history showing the (supposedly) best QB prospect to come out in years how to play is a dream scenario for most teams.

Having the best-prepared QB in history showing the (supposedly) best QB prospect to come out in years how to play is a dream scenario for most teams. This is the key. The Colts could be in a great position. It all depends on Manning's health. He's 36 and his football days are numbered after having three neck surgeries. No telling if he will play again or if he might play another year. If he does play another year it's the perfect situation for Luck. If not oh well. Get in there kid and let's see what you have. Not sure what kind of trade market there would be for a guy in Manning's situation. A lot of unknowns and the price might be stupid.

Madturk
11-15-2011, 07:16 AM
Heard the Colts say they weren't interested in Luck but that could just be a smoke screen. Perfect situation for Luck to be in but if they trade out of the first spot, they'd get a shit load of picks and still can draft one of the other top rated qb's.

I think Peyton's ego is about to take a big hit. This is where I think the rubber might hit the road. A) Manning due a big number. B) Manning gonna be 37 years old. C) Manning with three neck surgeries. No guarantee he'll 1) be able to go or 2) be worth a shit.

Colts can dance all they want and spin it anyway they want but when push comes to shove if they have the #1 pick they'll take Luck and worry what to do with Manning later. Pretty simple decision for the long term success of their team.

Especially since the rookie salary structure somewhat mitigates the risks of top picks.
