Okay, getting the Andrew Luck pipe dream out of the way, who I'd love to get btw, this guy is a very good player.

We could realistically get into position to get him.

I don't like Mallet (another JR), and I don't like Locker. However, this guy's a player

much like Tampa got Josh Freeman under the radar, I think we could steal him if we could get back to 15 or so in the draft.

He has all the NFL tools, is mobile, and accurate.

I think Gabbert goes in the top 10

in my opinion, his arm may not be as strong as Mallet's, but he is more accurate. Id even say he has a better arm than Luck, but his decision making isnt the greatest from the games ive seen.

But, in the small sample of games ive seen him play in, i'd say the guy can place a throw, with touch or zip, better than anybody ive seen in a while.

I'd rather take Locker at 50 than trade a pile of picks for Gabbert in the top 10.

At this point Locker is underrated. He had a bad senior year and should have come out as a JR, but he's big, strong, mobile, good arm, top tier intangibles and has played in a solid system as a starter for 4 years. He single handedly (Well Polk helped a lot) made the Huskies relevant this year.

i wouldnt trade up for Gabbert, or any of the QBs projected to go in the top 15 or so.

i'd love to take (or even move up for) Locker, but I dont think he makes it to 50. Especially after he runs a sub-4.5 at the combine.

I snatch him in Rnd 2 all day. Wont make it there tho IMO. So lets go interior line or CB?

What DB's do you like for us in Rnd2 007? Not having a 1st rounder this season made me do way less scouting haha

Jimmy Smith is the guy Tronner. 6-2 205 CB. He's not physical like Aso, but he has big time upside. Everybody and their mother will talk about Ras-I Dowling but I question whether he'll have the forty time Al Davis covets...

I really dont want to go DB in round two, but I fully expect it after Aso/Routt/Huff leave.

Other names are the big guys like Aaron Williams and Curtis Brown from Texas or Brandon Harris from Miami.

Rahim Moore and Deunta Williams are impressive safeties. Robert Sands is a phreak of an athlete.

The combine always helps seperate the prospects for Oakland, lol.

Obviously, I did this before Luck went back to college.

I don't like Locker not because of his senior season but because his accuracy sucks.

It's why I knocked Brady Quinn coming out and would not touch Locker with a 10 foot pole, you can't teach ball placement or throwing with anticipation.

Locker's accuracy on the run is excellent. Its his pocket prescence that worries me. He needs more refinement as a pure passer, but so do most QB's coming out of college.

He'll be long gone before we pick anyways, but I definitely like him more than most.

He just seems way streaky for my taste.

I think If we wanted him, I'm guessing we'd have to trade back into the bottom of the first round because I think more people will pass on QBs this year than people think.

Gabbert isn't a can't miss by any means, I was more thinking of who'd be left since Luck would probably go first, and we still need a QB because I'm not sold on Campbell as the long term solution.

I like his anticipation throwing, quick release, and ability to move more than the other guys overall.

I've read some people comparing Newton to McNabb and Freeman, which I can't see, but I do think he'll be a better pro than Tim Tebow is projecting.

Whatever we do, I want Hue making the call.

I think Al Davis could care less about developing a QB right now. It's Jason Campbell for the foreseeable future. We will likely try to bolser our back-up situation however.

QB's can be had in outside the draft. VY, Orton, McNabb just to name a few. I think we will add another potential starter thru FA or trade. Its Campbell job to lose...

I think you're right. Campbell is probably better than any QB in this draft will be any ways. Gabbert may be ok, depending on where he goes. Newton, I think the old man was clear he thinks Campbell will be better. Mallet, I don't like. Locker, is a work in progress who will slide. Just not a natural passer, and was'nt as dominant as Tebow was with his legs and intangibles. Simply not accurate. Pretty bad QB class this year. I think we're looking at OL, LB, and S. Unless Nam or Routt bolt, then we will look at corner.

I disagree. I think there are quite a few guys who could help down the road. Mallet is probably the closest (other then Newton) that you named. But he's not a plug-and-play kind of guy. His decision-making is suspect to me, it could have been coaching, but at this point he's not a sure thing. I forget some of the names, since I don't write them down at the sports bar, but there are a couple guys who WILL be something in the NFL. Superstars? That's up to them and the situation they wind up in.

I think it is a pretty safe assumption that Aso will be playing elsewhere in 2011. I think Al will pay Routt more than anyone else and we might see a high CB pick this year. I believe our best move would be OL and LB at the picks we have and then also bring back Huff and keep the safeties we have as well.
There may be a good CB to be had in the FA market. Cro or champ maybe. Cro becomes more available if Jets sign Aso.

Of course, i hope we keep Aso and sign him to a long term deal to keep him a Raider for life.
