View Full Version : So did anyone else predict we'd draft 3 OLs?
Personally, I knew it all along. :o

I was pretty certain we'd draft 2. I figured one on day 1 and one on day 2. I guess it makes sense since our OL is much deeper into transition than the DL.
That being said, I bet we draft at least 2 DL next year. Since I think we've got some decent young depth, we probably won't need to grab 3 next season.
If your boy (and I like the guy too) Brayton can step it up a little returning to DE this season we might only have to worry about depth at DE and focus on a starter at the nose, unless Terdy can step it up and Hawthorne proves to be worth something coming off the bench. Bah! I still would like to upgrade the nose. I think Kelly's got the 3 sewn up, but we'll need someone off the bench in the event Sappy wakes up old (and that day is coming). Maybe Irons can bulk back up and make a go of it at the 3 as a backup.

aw ok.....so that's why you were all sweating about Vince Young being a Raider :p
I figure a nose and a Rd3-4 pass rush specialist should be on the menu next year. Unless, by some miracle, Riddle decides to become a player. With Millard's influence, that may not be as farfetched as it sounds.
Maybe an every down RDE so we can rotate Brayton and Burgess, assuming Hamilton hangs them up after next season.

Yeah, a good idea on a backup to Brayton. But if Hawthorne pans out, even as a backup, that could free up Irons (Brayton's LB backup) to back him up at DE if Riddle pans out.
So I think we've got the potential to go light on DL next season. Still a 2nd day flier on a DE would make sense with the projects and backups out there. It certainly wouldn't hurt.

So......did ANY Raider fan really predict you'd draft 3 OL's?? :)
Millard has a history of turning DE prospects into sack artists. That gives me hope for Riddle, if not for just one thing. Raiders.com has stripped him of his DE/LB listing. Now, he's just a LB. Discouraging, but if he can get to the QB from the second level, thn that'll help trmendously. Might even cause Ryan to ponder that 3-4 madness again,
fuckin' Klonopins.
