if al davis can sit back and do his job and let the coaches do theres it will help but we need to not make so many holding calls and other penalties if we can do that we should be ok

True. Unfortunately that's just not our Al.

If the O-line is even mediocre, the Raiders should be .500 and at least flirting with a playoff berth.

To me, its as simple as just being middle of the pack in stopping the run defensively and running the ball offensively. Do those things and you have a competitve football team.

I think we have improved the personnel on D enough that we should be able be somewhat profiecient defensively against the run. But the key question is clearly the OL - if they can run block well enough, then 1) Bush and DMac should be able to get us yards on the ground , 2) this would keep the O from too many third and longs and help our play action passing game, 3) give us reasonable time of possession offensively, and 4) avoid wearing down the D.

Unfortunately, however, its tough to be overly optimistic about the OL...

I'm really looking forward to this season. If they don't look twice as good as last year just from the change in personnel, then something is rotten in the state of Denmark.

Unfortunately that has indeed been the case for a while in Oaktown...

If Marshall is better at using Scott and Wimbley than opposing OCs, the D could be special.
