I voted offense, because I happen to think Campbell will have an impact on the D as well.
With him, maybe the defense will be able to get some Gatorade before they run back on the field.

As much as we have been screamin for o linemen, the selection of Houston and RoMac represent the possible end of our defense getting gashed for long runs everyother down. If we keep teams from getting first downs, everything else will fall nicely into place, ala the Ravens. They had shit offenses for years and still won because the defense didn't let teams run on 'em and eat up clock.
However, it will be interesting to see in 2 years who is on our oline-

i voted offense guys. even though im fucking excited for our new and improved defense, Looking back on last year, if ANYONE not named Jamarcus Russell was our QB all season, we would have won atleast 8 games, probably 9. Well now we have that guy, and got him a few new guys to develop and play on the right side of the line. Plus I think Langston Walker could force Cooper Carlisie off the team so we dont gotta see his ass getting pushed into Jason on every passing down. Coach Cable has said DHB is having an excellent offseason. Bush should be the starter with McFadden playing multiple positions giving other teams some twisted looks and Murphy Schilens and Miller all contributing. Very Nice

I voted defense with the assumption that Marshall will be able to implement his preferred style. If we are stuck with Al's vanilla I am not sure how much Rolando and Houston can help.
Mass makes a great point about keeping the D off the field too. If our O is having back to back to back 3 and outs, our D is screwed regardless.

I voted Campbell. He changes the whole collective look of the team. JR was such a ridiculous downer and weight around our neck. With JR at QB- No chance. We are in every game now. I know Grad had a shot, but did you really think he was going to last more than 4 games? He can't even make it out of the weight room without getting hurt. It's Campbell and it's not even close for me.
Not to belittle the great upgrades on D though.

No we don't have a legit NT per se but this defense is ready to go. We have all the pieces and with decent coaching and scheme we're ready to rock 'n roll in the AFC West.

Which brings up the interesting question of when Gump will be cut. Even as loathe as Al is to admit mistakes, I honestly can't see him paying 9.45 million for a 3rd-string QB.

Had to trim down 1 and 3 a couple times. Fucking 100 character limit.
Fix your god damn polls, Bones.

You have to wonder if Al will do that spiteful "Hang on to you as long as I can to make sure you don't catch on with another team" type deals.
Ban his ass from the facility. Cut him at your leisure.

So, if and when Russell is cut, how soon does that free up that money for FA? Or can they go out and get a T.O. - Faneca now and worry about the $ later?
Still no cap, so Russell's salary don't mean shit right now.

Who knows if we are even going to use a NT... we may just line up Seymour and Kelly in the gaps... or play them head up on the guards now that we have the thumper at MLB.... Can we just start the pre-season already?

I could see him fake a training camp injury so he gets that 9+ mil.
You know maybe bite the end off of a digit while at lunch or something.

You know maybe bite the end off of a digit while at lunch or something. That is exactly why Lombardi said he thought Russell would be released next week. Specifically to avoid any sort of injury situation. Let's hope this is correct so we can put this mistake behind us once and for all. Shit happens.
We'll fix a few things too after that. Russell will show as *******. :D

i sure hope the conversation is like this- Junior, you need to take a pay cut, like to league minimum or you will be released.
No sir

Good question. At times last year we were very physical on defense and put quite a few people out of the game. McClain and Houston should really add to that and we now have a defense that shouldn't be fun to play against. Signing Campbell and the knock on effect of that will have an impact on the offense, but also has the potential to change the attitude of the whole team. I really like the fact that we have concentrated on hard working good character players in the last couple of drafts and think the mentality of the team should be a lot better. I give the very marginal edge to the offense.

I voted defense. I honestly think it can be a real game-changer this year. The O should be much improved as well, but still need some linemen dammit.

I voted the OFFENSE!
Just one gripe i got CROW
The Offense: Cambell is a quality vet and can step in right away. The rookie OTs will contribute
Your calling Campbell a VET? He's been in the league what 4 or 5 years? One would have to think you become a VET when your over the age of 30 (thats my opinion) if anything Campbell is a QUALITY (emerging player entering his prime)

I voted defense...under the assumption that Gradkowski was going to be our starter by winning Curly's stated open qb competition.
I pimped adding Campbell, and am thrilled that we got him. But I don't believe he is as big of an upgrade over Bruce than what our new thumpers in the middle of the D are gonna mean.
Morrison was a huge part of our shitty run-D, and I think we really improved at that position. I don't know if Houston is gonna outplay what we were getting from Warren (at least right away), but he can't be worse than Bryant or Joseph.

Campbell is an upgrade simply because he can make it through a season. Grads can't make it through a workout...

I voted D. I think that competition breeds success. We are now putting together a nice collection of bodies on the DL. That should allow for a good rotation and flexibility to matchup better against teams. I also think our #1 is going to be that damn good out of the gate. I think teams are not going to like running against us this season, and RBs are going to need ice baths after the game. JMO.

The D needs a signature play early next season, so that it can begin to build a reputation. That will start with Aso and Seymour, whom I hope bring it next year, a contract year for both of them.
If the Raiders challenge for a playoff spot, it will start with D. It will follow with solid OL play and a balanced offense.

Okay, so he's a young veteran.

Yep, Campbell is still young, but he's got 52 games under his belt, so he's got a good amount of experience. He's improved every season (not a great deal mind you). His apprenticeship is over. He either develops into a master or is relegated to journeyman status.
We'll see how he does, but picking him up is a good gamble.
