View Full Version : How does drafting McClain even make sense?

Tenebrous

Bah, this draft still bothers me - was the difference between McClain and Morrison greater than the disparity between Russell and Clausen? Morrison, who has led the teams in tackles for the past five years. Now the Raiders will be lucky to get a very late round pick for Morrison, if at all, since teams now know that he will likely be eventually cut. This is not a dig on McCalin, but it just does not make sense to address an area of marginal need over a position of serious need especially when considering the depth of this draft is not at QB.

Have him on ignore, but the title alone is amusing enough. :pound:

When you get the chance, you take the consensus #1 LB over the 4th or 5th ranked QB.

I thought a better title would be

"Why did we take McClain instead of our yearly bust"

No, that is not fair for hind-sight is 20-20. Yesterday before the draft, Clausen was by far considered either the first or second best quarterback in the draft so your point is moot.

Again, the question is are the Raiders better with Clausen and Morrison or Russell and McClain.

Well, if replacing Morrison and leaving Russell in makes sense to you, then maybe the Raiders should next draft another RB to replace either Bush or McFadden.

Logic is not always exciting, but that does not make it any less right. I do not want to hear any complaints about Russell in the upcoming season or about the situation of quarterback play, because although Clausen may or may not be the answer, at the very least he would have been an attempt at resolving the situation.

You know, why does everyone have to be so insulting? So, I disagree with you - so what? - but at least I am trying to give reasons for my position unlike the real trolls such as Raidermania12 who only has hate to contribute.

Mania has contributed to this board for years. You showed up stroking Clausen's cock and now look like a total fool.

You ever see a 'top five talent' fall into the 3rd round?

Me either.

The guy was always a chump. Like I said when we originally debated the topic, if Jimmy went to San Diego State, he's a 5th round pick...Looks like I'm right.

Actually, it was looking more and more like no one really needs a QB in an otherwise deep draft class - EXCEPT FOR US and Carolina who wisely drafted him at their first opportunity.

Nor does arrogance make one's opinion any more right...

Being right is not arrogant - it just happens to be a fact.

FACT: If last year is any indication, the Raiders desperately need QB help far more than MLB help.

FACT: Clausen is, or was, depending on how you look at it, one of the top two quarterbacks in this year's draft.

FACT: The Raiders do not have a number one pick next year.

FACT: The Raiders upgraded the MLB while leaving Russell at the helm.

FACT: The Raiders did not have a bad draft, IF they did not have the needs they do.

So, now I am left wondering when Grad. gets hurt, which is more than possible considering that he just got hurt benching, who is going to help the Raiders put points on the board - or at the very least who is going to help the defense get off the field for some rest? McClain apparently.

The Bills and Browns also repeatedly passed on him.

Have you even once considered the possibility that teams just don't think he's that good?

True.

FACT: The Raiders upgraded the MLB while leaving Russell at the helm.

Not necessarily. Gradkowski could become the starter. Or they could still deal for Jason Campbell.

FACT: The Raiders did not have a bad draft, IF they did not have the needs they do.

The Raiders have also been unable to keep the defense off he field consistently either. That may just have something to do with it. However, you cannot be seriously be arguing that Morrison was an area of greater concern than Russell?

Being right is not arrogant - it just happens to be a fact.

FACT: If last year is any indication, the Raiders desperately need QB help far more than MLB help.-Thats not a fact, you don't own a crystal ball or use "if" for a fact.

FACT: Clausen is, or was, depending on how you look at it, one of the top two quarterbacks in this year's draft.-Which is thin on QB prospects-Fact

FACT: The Raiders do not have a number one pick next year.-yes this is a fact, but you didnt come up with it.

FACT: The Raiders upgraded the MLB while leaving Russell at the helm.-again you are trusting unforeseen futures again as fact.

FACT: The Raiders did not have a bad draft, IF they did not have the needs they do.-thats your opinion, you suck at this fact shit.
I hope to all that is good that you are in high school, that would excuse alot of this idiocy.

Running game does that, throwing does the opposite most cases unless you run a New England screen pass heavy offense. Do you watch football or ND pep rallies only?
