Well, Lady and Gents (unless you include HB, then it's LADIES and Gents), today is the day we all love to hate, or hate to love.

Al Davis has made draft turn into the biggest let down for Raiders fans besides the abysmal team he fields each year. It is a let down compareable to the same let down X had on prom night when he DIDN'T get laid. Just like the same let down every chick who gets with Nips experiences.

However, I want to be the first to raise my glass and toast to a changing of the guard as it pertains to our overall draft philosophy. This is the year, peeps. The year that Al finally gives us the hand job we all deserve, and drafts the right players, in the right spot and makes the bold moves that work and finally end our horrible since 2002.

Let this be the discussion point from here on out for the rest of the 2010 draft, post the picks and all commentary here!

One possible exception: If the Raiders draft T. Cody (NT) in the 2nd round, then the Raiders will have the tools to run the 3-4 with McClain, Morrison, and Brown at MLB. I always thought that Kelly is better suited to play DE in a 3-4, like Seymour. O'Shucks is big enough to play DE in a 3-4, too. Add in KW, Scott and Groves, the Raiders have big, pass-rushing OLB, too.

McClain has great length and strength for the position and has been the Crimson Tide's most active defender in 2009. Rolando is an instinctive player that makes all the calls from the middle linebacker position. He sheds blockers well to leverage the ball and understands angles to maintain proper run fits to the line of scrimmage. McClain is disruptive attacking a crease when blitzing the quarterback. He is powerful as a tackler and keeps good balance in the open field. McClain is somewhat limited in man coverage and may be a liability in this phase of his game at the next level. He does understand route progressions and can be effective in short zone coverage schemes. McClain is a good football player that should have an immediate impact as a rookie on special teams while working into a starting role.

As much as I like Campbell, I've admitted he would have been a huge reach there. Iupati would have been, too. So would Davis. Al got a productive "thumper" that we've been asking for 3 or 4 years now to help solidify the soft run defense. They definitely still need to address the line, but I think for the position, they made the right move.

This very true. I see the draft as being pretty deep for the OL. We can definitely upgrade our OL later in the draft. I wasn't a big fan of Bulaga or Davis. I'd much rather have the leader McClain than Davis who is, IMO, a risky pick.

I think all this means is we loved the #1 ranked ILB better than the 4th ranked OT and liked our chances of getting an OT later than we did getting a MLB... The MLB class past McClain is pretty weak...
