JPP, welcome to the raiders!
Personally, I think Crow might be right.
More an indication that Shaughnessey is set to take a bigger role than us going DE in the top 10.

Greg Ellis of the Raiders had to cut now or else his entire salary for 2010 would have been guaranteed
Walker: $21 million for 15 catches and 1 touchdown in Oakland over two years.

JPP, welcome to the raiders!
Stop thinking like Al--
Weve had enough of this blown 1st rd picks the last 5 years
JPP will be nothing more than a 3rd down pass rusher-- trust me when I tell you-- I'm a USF Alum and pimp all my guys-- but this cat had 1 good year when teams double Selvie and JPP went unoticed
Here--- dig this-- I'll tell this striaght up--- you give JPP one more year and college and he gets shut the fuck down and will be lucky to get drafted in rd 3
Look at Selvie-- last year he was a consensus top pick with his junior numbers-- teams doubled him with TE's and RB's and shut him down
Dont fall into the JPP trap
What yer sentence should have said is
"Welcome Derrick Morgan"

i'll heavily agree with the nippled one on this. if we take a DE - let it be one worth the pick. Morgan is that guy.

"Filed to ESPN: Raiders waived WT Javon Walker and DE Greg Ellis. Talk about two moves that didn't work out"
I hate when these clowns don't do their research. Greg Ellis was solid for us last year. I know the record didn't indicate so but come on don't rip on Ellis.
Javon,
It was nice knowing yah! Don't let the door hit yah on the way out. Thanks for nothing.

Yeah...at least PFT got it right when they said that Ellis was actually very productive until the knee injury he suffered midway through the season.
I don't blame Javon...he showed up and worked his ass off to be ready for the season opener. I blame Al for starting DHB even when it was clear that he wasn't capable of playing in the NFL. I wish him well and I hope he kicks ass next year...just to rub Al's face in it.

I also think some of the Walker hate was because of his unannounced knee surgery. You don't do that without letting the team know.

ok, one more ridiculous stupid signing off the books.. maybe we can move forward.
Liked Greg Ellis but we got youth to be pushing on the DL.

Putting aside the Routt tender, this has been a decent offseason.
The team lost: Cornell Green (finally), Walker, and Ellis (good but old).
They may lose two LBs who didn't play all that well, but could get a decent return on the market, and didn't sign anyone to a WTF contract.
Since the Raiders are good for one absolutely idiotic move per off season, let's hope the Routt tender was it. I still worry about what Al can do in the draft, but so far, this has been a good off-season. Just knowing Cornell Green is gone is fantastic.

Derrick Morgan is too easy of a choice...I'd have to disagree with you on that pick as you know the Old Coot would be more enamored with Jason Pierre-Paul, South Florida. Bigger, Faster, Jumps like a kangaroo....and tore it up for one year. Al Davis just saw " POTENTIAL " for a great playa...

Good moves. even though I am somewhat sorry to see Ellis go. He was the only one who had the balls to call Fatback out in front of the team for his partying before a game bullshit.

I'd have kept Walker...the money is guarnteed so WTF we have to lose by brining him to camp...an injury settlement? I'd make him be the jiz mopper for that money....
Remember that story that Walker wanted to retire and Al stopped him? waste of money...

just heard Ellis on Sirrius in the car coming home from the gym. He was classy and didn't trash Oakland, said Cable is a real stand up guy and doing the best with what he has. Said Cable has to deal with way more BS than any coach he's ever played for- I took it as he has to sell Al on everything he wants to do.

Hard to believe it took this long to get rid of Walker... And didn't the Walker signing rank as the #1 all-time free agent bust on NFLN (along with Larry Brown in the top 5)?
As far as letting Ellis go, I don't see this as a positive. Guy played reasonably well and is a standup guy. Then again, probably could say the same thing about Fargas...

Any chance they resign him for less money?
Why bag on Walker??- he told Al Davis he wasnt feeling it the 1st year here and even was willing tp give back that 11 million- It was Al that convinced him to stay
Hey? Fuck it Walker said-- "I tried, if hes that stupid, I'll take the cash"

David White reports....
UPDATE: A Raiders official contends they owe Walker nothing, and that he got out of town with $14 million over two seasons. However, a league source familiar with the restructured deal said the first two years were guaranteed. Whatever the case, that's still a lot of money for nothing.
Defensive tackle Tommy Kelly is the last big-money signing standing from the 2008 offseason that has seen DeAngelo Hall, Kwame Harris and Gibril Wilson go by the wayside.
If that's true, i take back my Walker comment. He doesn't need to mop the jiz....

It's fallout relating all the way back to Shell...Moss got so frustrated...Then Kiffin couldn't sell him so we dump him and pay Walker...and draft DHB to ultimatly fill the role...
Whereever you point to the start of the trainwreck, there is no question it's a fucking trainwreck...
I'm still not comfortable with our WR core. Murphy improved but Chaz hasn't played a half season yet, DHB is expected to improve...I guess Watkins shows improvement but really, show me the threat?
I Know there is plenty of off season to go...but our front office...has not shown the ability to get us going...
Agree about Ellis being a class guy and I hope he resigns without the guarnteed $.
I still think we sign O-gun as vet Passrusher with some gas in the tank

The Routt tender was a head-scratcher. My hope is that it will disuade Al from from drafting a CB with the #8 pick (fingers crossed). And the only rationale for the tender (albeit a stretch) that I can think of us is, if, Al was concerned that somebody might have made on offer for Routt and included a poison pill had Al tendered Routt for only a 2nd round pick (although I have only seen poison pills for top-of-the-line talent) making it impossible for Al to match a lesser tender (just speculating/trying to explain a stupid move on its face).

Trying to think like Al probably isn't a good idea. Remember how your mother always warned you that if you crossed your eyes, they'd get stuck like that? Rewiring your brain to try to understand Al-logic might not be reversible.

I think there was a good likelihood that Haden would have been the pick save for his 40 time. Al ain't drafting a corner who runs a 4.5 40. For the most part there really aren't any real speed burners at the top of the cb board and I hope you're right about the Routt tender. Even though we drafted safeties the past two years, it won't necessarily preclude Al from drafting one again:shakehead:

Same for Huff. He had a good start last year but the turnovers went quiet in the 2nd half
