Having done a little research overnight and talking to freind of a freind of a freind who knows the janitor that has a cousin who dumps the trash in Tom Cables neighborhood, here is the plan forward for the Raiders.

Al Davis has had conversations with only Harbaugh and cable regaring the head coaching job. Harbs will not commit because he has given his word to the University and the recruits. He is the coach at Stanford for at least another year before he looks to the NFL. Al made a major offer to him with some coaching consessions and other minor stuff, but Harbs is staying put.

Since Al didn't get his man, he has reverted to plan "B".

Cable is staying put. Al will continue to force the Jamarcus Russell issue but only after Cable gives the job to Russell and Russell looses it. Thus the hiring of Hue Jackson as OC, whose primary job will be to call the offense, but make better use of DMAC andget Russell on the right path. Tollner will be gone, possibly the scouting dept. Hackett will stay and will concentrate on tutoring JaMarcus with Hue.

Wauffle is comming in to aide in the transition to a 3/4 defense based on the success they had in NY. However, this wll not be a full commitment to a 3/4 and the defense wil suffer because of the hybrid theory.

Here is the kicker, Cable doesnt make the playoffs, he is gone in 2011. Al has wink wink deal with both Jackson and Harbaugh for the job if Cable fails. It's called continuity without continuity.

So, Al is a plan b guy this year, but at least he save the embarrasment of a coach publicly punking out on us.

Agreed. Fatback doesn't have the work ethic or the offensive line of Flacco.

Well it's a plan anyway. Not really that bad.Beats gutting the place and starting over.

The thing is on one level if an honest attempt is going to be made to develop/salvage #2 then ok I guess. But then part of me is saying dump this bum. That's really the wild card in this whole mess.

Make it an honest QB competition in camp and when fatback falls on his box of crispy creme, he can be released....and the kicker is the team is only out 3 of the 9+ mil (http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Russells-enormous-cost-to-the-Raiders.html) he's owed for 2010. :D

2010: the $3M fourth season

Russell’s Paragraph 5 amount for 2010 is $9.45M, a number he has said he will not reduce. Uh, OK. More on that in a bit.

The key number for 2010 is the amount of that salary that’s guaranteed, which is $3M, fully guaranteed for skill and injury. In other words, that’s what the Raiders are on the hook for next season, even if they cut bait with Russell.

You guys dont gotta believe it, but that is whats goin down and Al has decided thats the only way to go after getting privately spurned by Harbaugh....for now.

Also, since when does a coach have to be a 34 coach on a 34 team for him to be a 34 coach for Al Davis?

So are we to assume Marshall stays on as D coordinator?

Since when has there been any indication at all that Al has any interest at all in running a 3-4?

Since our D sucks and Al is desperate for change, so long as we dont blitz. The point is this, Cable is getting one more yeat win or get the fuck out, if not, Jackson or Harbaugh takes over in 2011.

This is the part where the logic is somewhat lost on me. Jackson is really sticking his neck out for this without seeming to understand that his success or failure is gonna be directly tied to Cable. If he comes in and the Raiders win, Cable keeps his job and Jackson doesn't get to be a HC. If he comes in and the Raiders lose he's gonna be out the door with Cable. Why come in and help save the job of a guy who seems to be a dirty look away from getting blown off like a fart in the wind.
