QB coach Paul Hackett and passing coordinator Ted Tollner deserve much credit. I saw Hackett on the sideline and he was providing input to Cable. Both Tollner and Hackett are experienced coaches. With the success of Bruce and Charlie, and today's work by JR, kudos for their hard work to Tollner and Hackett.
If Cable gets fired, both coaches will leave too and much of their progress with the young QBs will be washed down the drain.

Not to suck on Grad's lollipop too hard, but did you see him on the sideline giving advice to all 3 QB's? I even saw Cable go over to him and get some advice off his play sheet for JR. That is cool to see.

Seems to me that Grad has been developing a finer understanding of the game this season. Of course, it's hard to say to what degree, since we've only seen him in limited action. I've seen enough dedication and results on the field to say that we definitely should bring him back next year, at the very least to compete for the starting QB spot.

That's why I am thinking Cable should stay. Our players NEED continuity: can't just keep changing coaches and coordinators and what-not every offseason. However, with that being said, I still propose bringing in someone else to call the plays. Cable is hit-and-miss with playcalling. Keep him, Tollner, and Hackett, though.

I wouldn't mind Cable staying if he gets a OC. His playcalling still sucks to me. I'm not at all confident in his ability to judge talent. For an O-Line coach there's no denying he's done a shit job at what he's supposed to good at.

Yeah, how does that happen? Didn't he concede that he needed additional help and hire a guy that was supposed to be the best? What the hell is going on? How come nobody ever asks the right questions to these guys?

 Well remember at the PC when they were gonna announce hiring Cable when Al didn't seem to know anything about the guy? It doesn't surprise me that Al could gloss over that at his age.

I don't know how much credit I'd spread around... We had 102 total passing yards... We won this game running the ball and playing defense... In fact we probably caught a break when Fargas got dinged up or else Bush would have continued to be a 250 pound sideline ornament...
I'm very happy we won the game, especially since it's a divisional road game, but I'm going to have to see two consecutive weeks of consistent play before I go praising the coaches or QB's...
Yup.
I want 2 wins in a row!
6-10 was my prediction heading into the year, and as sad as it sounds...I'll be content with that number, given our QB and WR issues.

Let's face it fellas, Charlie Frye was awful yesterday. I see now why Gradkowski beat him out. Awful. Just awful. We won the game by playing damn good defense and running the ball. Simple. Why we can't do that week in and week out is a mystery. We go from real high to real low in both categories. The offensive line is the key. When they perform average or better the team is pretty good. The defense seems to build on what's happening positively on offense. When they don't well...
Anyway that doesn't detract from kicking the Donkey's ass in their own crib. LOL @ Denver.
We'll see iof we can put together back-to-back good games. Don't ell me that Curly Cable is the new Wayne Fontes. Jeeez...Remember the ultimatums that guy had? Get to .500 or you're out; win the rest of your games or you're out...etc. And for about 3-4 years he did just enough to keep his job. Brutal.

The inconsistency in the running game is a mystery. But I think there are a couple of factors that play into it. First, when the QB play was atrocious (and I mean epically bad), teams stacked the line. It was that simple. When it improved to the point where teams thought there was a chance we could throw, the running game opened up. Second, we don't have an Oren O'Neal type fullback in the backfield. The absence of stellar fullback play hurt. Third, this team needs a dramatic upgrade at right guard. Carlisle is weak at the point of attack. A second round pick on a solid guard would be a wise investment. Fourth, we need more Bush, period. The guy can wear down defenses. Use McFadden in motion- and as a receiving threat. That is a deadly option. The fact that McF will end up w/ less than 50 catches is criminal.

Fullback has been a huge problem. I saw Lawton completely whiff on at least two lead blocks yesterday. Lawton is terrible. But I guess he's good for one yard on Cable's patented FB Screen.

Man if I see that play called one more time and him getting his legs cut out from under him, I'm going to heave a beer through my screen. We definitely need a FB this offseason. I'm thinking O'nel is probably done.

How the hell did we start the season with Lorenzo Neal and Oren Oneil at FB and end up with Lawson and Russell. Fuck my life. As a former FB i am deeply saddened by that outcome.

Injuries, old age and the fact that there just aren't that many true lead-blocker fullbacks out there. It's definitely an area we will have to address in the offseason. If Havili comes out of USC I think he would be a great late round pick up.

Stanley is not a lead blocker type FB. He is a Dallas Clark type receiving threat...
