Saw something about 4th & 5th round picks, I read.

Correction. 3rd & 4th

BTW, Raiders are looking for third- and fourth-round picks in return for disgruntled defensive end Derrick Burgess.

I'd take it and run.

We wanted 2nd round value for him before/during the draft. had some offers of late round picks/player value... I think we could see a team like NE come calling or someone who NEEDs a pass rush due to injury/etc

He's in the last year of his deal, and this team isn't making a playoff push. Take a conditional 7th and call it a win.

Nope, Crow.

We'll get better than a 7th rounder when someone signs him to the contract he believes himself entitled to next offseason.

Raiders collect $17,000+ per day until he shits or gets off the pot......I say keep the meter running! why me worry, you worry! :nono:

Wow really. This guys could put up 10+ sacks this year on whatever team he plays on. I think bringing him off the bench will make him even more dangerous. Like John Abraham is now.

Good point. That chicken soup fixed you right up, I see. You're welcome.

To what end, though? 10 sacks on a team that goes 6-10...pretty worthless.

If there's a 5th round pick on the table, take it. Odds are, that's all the comp Oakland will get for him when he bolts as a FA anyway.

Maybe. Not bads odds on a fourth rounder, though. We got a third for CWood. Someone is gonna overpay for Burgess.

Send him to Philly for Winston Justice and a 4th... I still say that Justice can be a good player if taken out of that power scheme and put back on the right side in the same zone scheme he played at SC...

Nah, man. Not that guy.

CWood left as an FA. are you talking comp pick?

Call Rob Ryan up and send him to Cleveland for Sean Rogers....

Finally...a Raider fan that can come up with a realistic trade scenario!! I get so tired of the proposals that have us trading our players that "sucks" for a 1st or 2nd round pick or for another team's stud.

Nice one HB...that could actually be a trade that could work for both teams.

I like it....I can see a team like AZ parting ways with the talented but yet unproductive Alan Branch as they look for a pass rusher to get them back to the SB, and are sold on Watson (who was'nt nearly as good as Branch at UM) and we would get a nice prospect at DT...win win IMO.....

CWood left as an FA. are you talking comp pick?

Yes. And that's why I wouldn't trade him for less than a fourth, or a likely high fifth.

Army, I was unhappy that we passed on Branch and took Zach Miller instead, but apparently the reason that Branch dropped into the second round at all was that he just doesn't play to his size and, unlike Warren, doesn't have the speed and quicks to play like a smaller man. If the Raiders passed on him two years ago, I don't see where the interest would be now.

RT or DT would be good... 3rd rounder works for me too.

There's no lock that we get a comp pick for Burgess if he leaves, if we sign a big FA, those signings would cancel each other out, and we get nothing.

The best move for this team and Burgess, is to call up the Cleveland Browns, say hey we are willing to trade Derrick Burgess & maybe a Pick for Shaun Rogers who doesnt want to be there.

Big Rogers is one of the Top DT's at his age brackett, In Mr Rogers neighbor hood, the run doesnt exist and if a stink browns defense can look good. he can make the raiders defensive front solid.

Rogers has been all smiles lately, and Burgess has never been in a 3-4. And they have Kamerion. Not a realistic trade.

I'm thinking the Bengals would make a good trading partner.

They need a pass rusher who can bring Michael Johnson along.

Also, if the Redskins are really working Orakpo at LB, I think they could stand to upgrade their pass rush at DE, too.

Very true, and you have to think there'd be one decent player who Al would overpay to come to Oakland. Gotta fill a hole somehow.

Be nice to get something in return for Burgess that would contribute immediately as opposed to a second day pick in 2010. I know Al's a stubborn old coot and would just as well see him rot on the sidelines this season, but I'd be diligently working to get a deal done.

The Wilfork scenario makes sense since the Pats will most likely let him walk at the end of this season. Off up Burgess, our 2010 second rounder, and Mike Huff. We got hosed on the Moss deal, let's get back some measure of redemption.

At first I thought he was gonna be a Raider, but thought Miller made sense since we took Russell....I'm glas we made the deal...I just think Branch can play, he has upside, just needs a change of scenery...

Branch's troubles started before AZ drafted him. The team did right to leave him be.

Washington is using Orakpo as a standup LB but on 3rd downs he's been putting his hand on the ground at DE. Basically they're using him at an elephant position but in a 4-3... which is a little weird.
