Who takes DHB? SFO? PHILLY?

And, if he went to SFO, would the Raiders taking Crabtree have been a bad choice because of his foot?

Would DHB have been a first rounder still, or would he have fallen?

Just curious about opinions.

Word on the street was the Giants would have tried to trade up in the 15-18 range to get him. Don't think he would of went earlier than that.

And I suppose that would have been "genius" on their part. But because he was taken by Oakland, now he's a bust. I just wanted to throw this out there. I mean, we as fans need to recognize that if Al didn't snatch him up, he would have gone to another team and been awarded fanfare and adulation.

With that said, I just wonder what the print would be like if we took Crabs. I can only imagine Chris Carter would have focused on his injury and said it was a bad pick. And then whoever took DHB would have been labeled with high regard.

Bottom line, we have DHB in our stable and he's going to be fine. He's a neat kid with A LOT of damn speed. We secured him and that's that.

As fans, we have to realize, no matter what we do as the "Raiders", it will never be received with any respect until we return to greatness. And we will.

If the Raiders took Crab, I still would have been pissed they didn't draft Monroe or Raji. That said, it is clear that DHB fits what Cable (Al) wants to do. Apparently, if you don't run a 4.3, you can't play for Al. Crabtree couldn't get out of people's way in the East Bay.

I like DHB better, but that doesn't mean I would drafted him.

But we do have a stable of young WRs that JR, McFadden and (hopefully) Bush can play with for some time, while Al, next year, finally turns to fixing the D's front 7 (hopefully Henderson, Satele and Barnes are, who we hope they are).

This is exactly what would have happened. Great post...

Had Al taken DHB, I think he would have gone to the Chargers at 16 or Philly at 19. The Chargers could use a receiver and he would have been a better pick for Philly. The Giants might have been able to trade up, but they would have probably had to hope the Chargers passed and worked a deal with Philly. Just my guess...

if we would have got Crabtree, people would have called it a bad move saying that oh they dont even know will he be able to return from the injury, and there would be stories on his injuries and how we would indeed need to draft another receiver next season.

Also Bey may have went to the Jags, the Giants or Baltimore would have traded up. but DHB was going to be a top 12 pick.. based on what I gathered. alot of teams especially the giants wanted him to fall to them. even though they have Mario Manningham, steve smith, dixon they still like to load up on the best.

Proud of our Maryland Product DHB, he can be as productive as some of the Greats to come from the terps, The Beast of maryland Kris Jinkins is pushing for DHB like other Terp alumi. what make it so good Bey is wearing Roger staubach number#12 one of the greatest players to come from maryland.

Besides I wasnt too high on crabtree's Diva style

Geaux DHB a Xplosive product

Geaux Raiders

It would have been a much easier pill to swallow if we did take Crabs. People can argue that DHB came from a much more pro-ready offense, and that Crabs came from a gimmick offense at TTech, but there's no arguing the numbers the cat put up the past two years. Obviously time will tell but let's hope that not drafting an OL doesn't come back to bite us in the ass in a year or so from now.

How many guys put up big #'s in that offense? You can find a few guys with sick #'s in that offense who wont play a down in the league.

I really like what I see in DHB when he gets into the open field. He's got the "gear", and when he hits the jets, it's ballz to the wall. If you watch the video on youtube with Crabs, DHB & Mac, it's not too hard to see who the most vicious runner is. I am not being biased either. When you see DHB run, he's like a quarter horse. It's all out.

And who say's he can't catch? My gosh, the videos are there and prove he's got hops and good hands. Yes he's a track guy, but so what? He's faster than any rookie WR player out there and he's been nailed mercilessly by the media. What better form of motivation is there for a kid to play with that chip on the shoulder and try to make plays for his beloved Oakland club that put so much stock in him that they chose him over Crabtree.

A lot of Raider fans fell to their knees and cringed, screaming NO! at the top of their lungs, but really, are we even the least bit informed as say, the Raiders Professional scouts? What did they see? I mean, I know Al Davis loves speed and everything, but to pass on Crabtree and take Darius Heyward-Bey, there had to be a deciding factor to play into the decision on that higher Raider Scout / NFL level most fans will never be privy to.

GO RAIDERS!!!

You mean like Rashun Woods, also a 49er pick, who held the big 12 record for TD's before Crabtree broke it last year? I didn't care for the pick because I thought we should have fortified the lines or at least traded back with Washington who were looking to deal, but Crabtree will not be anything in the league. I don't even think the 49ers did their homework on him and simply took him on instinct because he wasn't supposed to be there. Speed matters in getting open on this level, no matter what these clowns tell you on BSPN.

Plus, he's only been playing receiver for 2 years in offense, which doesn't focus on really teaching a player the traditional way of playing the position.
