i know the commish is trying hard to be hard, but I think plax should not be suspended for his accidental shooting.
I mean yes, he was carrying a loaded weapon, and he did take it out in public, but the fucker shot himself on accident! haha thats enough punishment right there! hah
not to mention the embarressment he has suffered since, and well deserved.
on top of it he was suspended by New York for ther rest of the season, so he has already been disciplined. just by the team, not the league.
Mike Vick definately should be disciplined for his actions, he got off way too easy on what he did, but what burress did was not as bad as killing a bunch of dogs. im a fan of second chances, and plax, who has a few character issues, is one hell of a WR and probably has already learned atleast some kind of lesson from all of this.

So, you want to send a message that it's ok to carry guns in public? To a nightclub, have a few too many drinks, and go back to the wild west? Dumbass shot himself on accident, and he very well could have shot someone else, by accident. Throw the book at him, and every other gun toting gang banger out there...

There's really nothing happening in Oakland today, is there?

4 games. For the kiddies.
Plax must face the music.
I can understand a famous person with a lot of money wanting to carry a weapon for his protection. But, to have the weapon go off inside of a nightclub with the potential to harm innocent bystanders was just blatantly ignorant on his part. It was a very stupid move.
One must separate the admiration for what a guy like Plaxico Burress can do on the field to impress NFL fans from acts of ignorance that could potentially kill innocent people. Including Plaxico.
With that said, I think the NFL has every right to suspend a player for such an incident.
It speaks volumes.
I do believe that there should be a reinstatement into the league after punishment.
The same goes for Mike Vick in my opinion.
People make mistakes. People fail to use proper judgement and some lose their freedom as a result of their actions. Some keep their jobs. (See Bill Belichick) Belichick, in my opinion, should have been fired from his position as head coach for blatantly violating the leagues ruling against filming opponents. He got off easy. A slap on the wrist.
Mike Vick, not so easy. The guy lost every cent he ever made and is facing a tough road ahead with lots of questions about his ability to bounce back. That's if the NFL even allows him to be reinstated.
I think that after one has paid their debt to society, one should be allowed back into the league. In Vicks case, he has served jail time, severe loss of $$$, he has been scrutinized by animal rights activists and he will never live it down. I have always been one to say, "All of us have failed, either publicly or in secret. None of us has the right to judge." However, if you are caught in a crime, you must face judgement, regardless of what your name is, or what your talent level is.
Some crimes are more obvious than others. Stallworth killing a man while drunk driving carries a heavy stigma. Vicks crime was worse IMO than Burress' crime, however, if Burress had killed someone, or maimed someone else besides himself, I think his crime would have been greater than Vick's.
Saying all that, I think the NFL certainly has the right to suspend players for behavior that is detrimental to the image of the league as a whole.

I just think the NFL wants to show that it does not condone this kind of behavior. I really think Plax will be back and I certainly think the NFL wants him back too. It's so unfortunate when things like this happen to young players. It really sucks for the fans too. I mean, we want to see the best players every sunday. It's just in the fan. I miss the hell out of Mike Vick. I will miss seeing Plax's big freakish self out there, but he made a huge error in judgement.
The NFL will allow him back and I think fans will understand. No, he'll never shed the image of what transpired, but it wasn't as bad stigma wise as Stallworth, OJ, or Mike Vick either.

Some of these guys act like fools. It makes it hard to feel bad for them.

Personally, I think Vick has paid his dues. He has been out of the league two years already. What does adding more games due at this point except make sure everyone knows Goodell is a hard ass. I am not saying what Vick did was right. I just think it would be like kicking a dead horse at this point.
As for Burress, Goodell should count the suspension the Giants gave him into his calculations. Further, aside from being a dumbass, I can understand how players feel the need to be protected. That said don't go somewhere if you feel you need a gun. Hiring a body guard is always an option as well. What's an extra $500 when your drinking Dom Perignon (I had to look that up).
