Would we have gotten the same response to our draft if instead of drafting:
- Matt Shaunnessy we got Michael Johnson
and
- Slade Norris we got Lawrence Sidbury
????
Both guys we're picked right f'ing before our pick in the 3rd and 4th rounds. You gotta think we would of taken both Johnson and Sidury instead of Shaunnessy and Norris...
1. DHB
2. Mitchell
3. Johnson
4. Murphy
4. Sidbury
6. Sulak
6. Myers
Is that still an F?

I doubt we'd have taken Sidbury.
After all, we had that chance one pick before he was taken.

If we had taken Sidbury or Michael Johnson in the 2nd, most would have been fine with the pick.
And they both would have been reaches. And Sidbury would have been a 2-round reach.
You want to slide in this player and that player, so our grade from 'experts' is good? Fine.
It honestly seems like everyone forgets what they were thinking or saying before the draft.
Look at players that went later than expected. Or weren't drafted. We now KNOW, for sure, they would have been reaches. But all of us would have sat around, and been happy if we had taken:
In the 2nd round:
Jarron Gilbert
Michael Johnson--we might not all like him, but wouldn't have called'reach'.
Sidbury--would have been a massive reach, as it turns out.
Chip Vaughn--Late 4th rounder
Jamon Meredith---Anyone complain about this kid? 5th rounder.
Or if in the 3rd we had taken:
Troy Kropog
Jonathan Luigs
Jarrett Dillard--a two round reach.
Or how about guys like Frantz Jospeh, and Chris Baker, and all the guys that went undrafted? There's about a dozen guys that were looking for work on Monday, and we would have celebrated them in the 5th round. Chris Baker in the 5th round would have created an orgasm of joy in Raider Nation not seen since our 'steal' of Taj Hawthorne in 2005.
You can also turn this around, and look at players that went too early. If the Radiers had takne them, we'd be screaming reach, but it turns out they would have gone soon after.

Why?
Hes taller, heavyer, faster, and more productive than Norris
and
Although hes 2 inches shorter than Sulak, hes is heavyer and faster.
Im sure it was a decision between Murphy and Sidbury, and they took Murphy hoping Sidbury would slip another pick and not risk it the other way around.

All Im saying is we got fucked on 2 picks:
pick #68 Gilbert #70 Johnson #71 Shaunnessy
and in the 4th- pick #125 Sidbury #126 Norris

Sidbury is a 3-4 OLB, or a DE.
We are putting both those guys at SLB.

Because we had the pick right before he was taken, and we passed.

Not much more productive. And that production came against Richmond's competition, not Oregon State's.

I don't buy it.
The team picking between us was the Falcons, who have much more need for defense than offense.

Nope, and it won't be for quite some time. After this draft, there will be a lot of second-guessing for years to come. And I might add, deservedly so given the major reaches Al took this year. If he comes away with two big-time starters in DHB and Mitchell then he deserves major kudos. If these guys turn out as busts as many of the draft gurus think is likely, then Al should take shit for this (especially if guys like Monroe, Raji, or Crabtree turn out to be solid pros).
