Umm, wasn't Lombardi saying a week ago that there's no way the Raiders take a WR? Al Davis will take offensive or defensive line, I think that was his self-assured statement.

If everyone is so f'ing sure Al Davis is going to take DHB with the #1 pick, I am 1000% sure he would at least trade down (even if it meant getting nothing in return) to at least pay him less money.
Lombardis unemployed ass/ego should at least acknowledge the fact Davis (the same guy who hired and fired him) is not retarded either.
Am I the only one who remembers trading DOWN and getting an extra 3rd round pick for a guy who ran a SLOW 40 in Zach Miller?
Lombardi is clueless.
He's flip flopped and changed his tune as much as any of us mockdrafters, and he apparently has 'insider info'.
This should make a couple guys on our forum pop a boner though.

Doesnt Al Davis still owe Lombardi money. Or at least Lombardi claims he does. Thats the reason for all the shit talking on his part. Now that he is part of the media he should learn about the ethics of the job.

No way we take him at 7, when Al knows he'll be there in the 20's. He won't reach that damn far. And pay #7 money to boot. If he trades down and can get a DL or OL he has eyes on, then maybe I can see it happening. .....007, if this guy, wherever he goes, turns out to be a damn good reciever, you know X will never let that go right ? I saw him play a few times last year (07) and thought, this is an Al Davis guy. Then the bastard ran a 4.3, its a given that he wants him, but will he ignore the run D again to reach for him at 7? I don't think so.

Yeah, I can see wanting him, but like you say, "no way @ #7".
How bout if Stafford goes before us, we take QB Dirty Sanchez, then trade him to the highest bidder late in a Rd.#1 for add'l picks & or DHB/ala Rivers & Manning??? Nobody wants him, we trade him later??? Just popped into my head, trying to get X ploder his guy w/o the big cake$$$$$!;)

I think Lombardi is right about one thing. No way in hell Al drafts Crabtree without the dude running a 40

there wouldnt be many high bidders for Sanchez if we took him
the field would compete amongst themselves and would know that we arent going to keep him with Russell (and Russell's contract) already with us
the reason it worked with Eli/Rivers was because they still needed a QB

everyone is saying Bey is a reach... Doesnt al davis Reach in the draft. Davis is one of the most Risk taking Owners in legue... Shane lechler was a reach a punter who turned out to be a pro-bowler..
DHB wouldnt be a reach now... if he drafted michael johnson that would be a reach.

lechler was taken in the 5th round. and was not considered a reach
DHB (projected late 1st early 2nd) going 7th overall is a reach not a risk

DHB isnt a reach. But taking him over Crabtree and Maclin looks like one to me. I love DHB but I dont think he is as proven as Maclin or Crabs. There is more to project and hope for with DHB. He obviously has the size/speed combo on lock, so his skills are not a reach.

We don't have the luxury of taking a project with any of picks this year. Cable is already on record as having said we need to hit on all of our draft picks. I also think Davis realized that he can't afford to gamble on a Ricky Dudley type player such as DHB. The Raiders need to get players that can contribute immediately and, especially with our 1st and 2nd round picks, make an impact. I GUARANTEE that we don't draft DHB with the 7th pick.

Oklahoma’s Harris Looking To Boost Draft Stock
Posted by Aaron Wilson on April 9, 2009, 7:54 p.m.
Oklahoma safety Nic Harris conducted a private workout for the Buffalo Bills this week, according to Scout.com.
Harris has also had a private workout with the St. Louis Rams.
Harris had formal interviews at the NFL Scouting Combine with the Rams, San Diego Chargers, Philadelphia Eages, Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, Atlanta Falcons and the Cleveland Browns.
An All-Big 12 selection, the 6′3,” 234-pounder is projected as an outside linebacker. He has consistently recorded 4.83 to 4.86 times in the 40-yard dash, so he definitely lacks the mobility to play safety in the NFL.
At the combine, Harris posted a 31 1/2 inch vertical leap and 9-1 broad jump. He bench pressed 225 pounds 15 times.
For his career, Harris registered 232 tackles, seven interceptions, six forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and 21 pass deflections.
