Check out this picture of RAJI from the combine: http://www.behindthesteelcurtain.com/2009/3/26/811694/btsc-2009-community-mock-d How are you going to block that guy without a double team? He's like a giant Gremlin.

With the #7 pick: RAJI, RAJI, RAJI

I was getting excited watching those highlight reels. If he's there at 7 WE HAVE TO TAKE THIS GUY! Thanks for posting that Sleet, my mind is made up now (I was actually warming to Andre Smith at 7).

However, as a Raiders fan I obviously have grown accustomed to dissapointment, so when we take Crabtree should we tarket Brace in the 2nd, now that we seem to have a starting center?

Was Brace #60 in those clips, looks like he could help us as well.

I don't care how big he is, that's a one gap guy. Big enough to take the double team, sure. But that guy is more Kevin Williams than pat Williams.

i agree, you dont take somebody with that much talent and make him a 2-gapper

waste of money and a waste of pick in a way, IMO

Raji could be one of the best UTs in the league, as a nose or "2-gap" guy, you'd be cutting him short.

you can take a big body in the 5th round to command a double team, why blow a 7th overall pick on somebody to do the same thing?

I think you guys are missing the idea that his body says 2gapDT AND he is quick and disruptive enough to be the UT. Put them together and what do ya got? A stout against the run, double team eating 2gapDT THAT CAN ALSO penetrate and be disruptive at the same time.

Imagine Ted Washington and Warren Sapp in the same body. He is BETTER than a double team eater, he can break from his double team and make a play himself if possible.

I don't know why but you guys have a problem with a dual threat DT? Makes him 10 times more valuable in my eyes. "BLOW" a #7 on that? Yeah, that's crazy right there...

Unfortunately, we need Pat Williams.

And, like mass pointed out a while back ... those guys aren't typically found in the draft so much as in free agency.

Not what myself or s.Dot is saying. I agree with everything you said, I think he has the special ability to do both.

But in discussions round here previously, he has been described, in error, as a clogger, a plugger. I think he has that ability. But the reason he is ranked so high, is his upside as a playmaker.

My statement was simply a thought that more pertained to previous discussions, that's all.

I agree with you 100%.

Al used to draft DT early. The last three were: Darrel Russel (6'5''/325 lb, #2 pick overall), Chester McGlockton (6'3''/334 lb, 1st round), Leon Bender (6'5''/318 lb, 2nd Round).

RAJI (6'2''/337 lbs) is built like, and plays like, Chester. With Board as the DL coach, and Board wanted RAJI next to Kelly, I don't doubt for a second that Al would draft RAJI, precisely becuase he is not just a 2-gap plug, but can also penetrate.

Personally I think Al will be focused on fixing the offense. If that means adding to the OL he'll do that. If it means a WR he'll do that. Al has got to be worried about Russell's development. Keeping him upright is a concern. Giving him a decent target is another concern. Al is an offensive guy. He wants to score. Ask him. He's pissed we don't score enough. He's got $60 mil tired up in the supposed franchise QB. He doesn't want Ja to fail. The kid needs help badly. Just my 2¢ as to what I think Al is thinking. Talk about a Catch22.

Bones: I agree. However, I don't like J. Smith. Crabtree and Monroe might be gone. Cable might not want A. Smith, but Al might take him anyway. It could mean Raji, which is my hope (Curry's gone). I sure hope it doesn't mean Orakpo.

Yeah, I'm still not feeling Orakpo. I have a mental block about Texas players taken at seven. :p
