SALARY-CAP UPDATE

Teams began throwing around money as soon as free agency started. Two of Oakland’s AFC West rivals are among the four teams with the most money to fling.

An NFL Network report Thursday afternoon said the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a league-high $61 million to spend before reaching the $127 million salary-cap limit.

The Kansas City Chiefs are next at $57 million and the Denver Broncos are fourth at $37 million. The Raiders were in the bottom third of the league with approximately $10 million once they offered qualifying contracts to four free agents — Jon Condo, Ricky Brown, Jon Alston and Hiram Eugene.

So, it’s conceivable that the Raiders will let the dust settle for a day or two as the teams with the most money whittle away their cap room and wait until the market prices crystallize.
