I heard a hooker attempted to set him up, but Lamont couldn't get his fat ass in her accomplices car.

NFL Network's Adam Schefter mentions New Orleans, Detroit, and Chicago as possible landing spots for LaMont Jordan after he's cut.

The Bears and Lions are obvious potential suitors, but the Saints may be most needy with Deuce McAllister's health in serious doubt. Jordan isn't a power back like Deuce, persay, but would add good competition for Pierre Thomas. He's also a good fit in a pass-first offense like coach Sean

I think the Bears and Detroit are both good fits.

Are the Saints in the market for Lamont Jordan?

During the NFL offseason, teams are still in search of a nugget or two that could put them into a position to make the playoffs.

What stood out to me after the 2008 draft is that the New Orleans Saints did not draft a running back.

While backs like Kevin Jones, Najeh Davenport, Travis Henry and Cedric Benson are available, the one back who could well fit what the Saints missed last season due to Deuce McAllister’s knee injury is a power-style runner like Oakland’s Lamont Jordan.

Reports over the past few weeks are that the Raiders are hoping to get a draft choice out of a team in need of running back help, but Jordan’s contract may put a bit of a roadblock in any deal.

In the spring of 2005, the Raiders signed the former Maryland running back to a five-year, $27.5 million dollar deal and part of that deal says he will receive $4.7 million in 2008 and $5 million in 2009.

The rich deal was too much for Jordan to pass up after he spent four seasons with the New York Jets as Curtis Martin’s backup.

In 2005, Jordan rushed for 1,025 yards and scored nine rushing touchdowns and caught 70 passes for 563 yards for the Raiders.

The last two seasons, the 5-foot 10, 230-pound Jordan has flashed good wear-down skills as a runner.

He is a solid and sure-handed receiver coming out of the backfield, but poor offensive line play and injuries to his knee and back have limited his production.

The Raiders are now seemingly stockpiled at halfback with 2008 first-round choice Darren McFadden from Arkansas, 2007 leader rusher Justin Fargas and former Louisville standout runner Michael Bush in the organization’s long-term plans and fighting for playing time.

With McAllister still rehabbing his surgically repaired knee and question marks on exactly what role Reggie Bush will play in the Saints’ offensive attack, the Saints should take a long look at acquiring the Raiders running back if the price is right.

What the Saints would seemingly want is for the Raiders to cut loose Jordan and then they could orchestrate their own contract terms with him.

But that might be risky if you really want Jordan, with teams like the New England Patriots, Philadelphia Eagles, Chicago Bears, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Detroit Lions also looking to upgrade their halfback positions.

One guy who could be persuasive in the Saints’ pursuit of Jordan is offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Doug Marrone.

Before Marrone joined Sean Payton’s staff in 2006, he was the offensive line coach for the Jets, and he coached a line that opened up holes for Jordan from 2002-04.

Sure-handed? I wouldn't go that far. IIRC he dropped damn near as many passes as he caught in 2005.

Man, does Al really think some team is gonna give up a pick for a high priced turd like LaMont.................

Raiders RB Jordan could be headed to Detroit

LaMont Jordan’s agent said the Raiders' running back recently visited the Lions in a pre-arranged meeting between the teams as Oakland continues to solicit trade offers for the veteran, according to an ESPN.com report.

The Raiders pulled Jordan off the field during June minicamps and have been shopping him unsuccessfully for weeks. The report indicates there has not been any progress on a deal since the visit in Detroit and that Oakland is seeking a sixth- or seventh-round pick for Jordan.

After drafting Darren McFadden in April, the Raiders shook up their backfield, releasing Dominic Rhodes and will soon move Jordan, in his eighth NFL season, through a trade or contract termination.

Who cares? Doesn't cost him anything to find out. Lamont is gone one way or another, the team gains nothing by letting him go now. So let's exhaust all trade options. If we can get nothing, and cut him in August, we are in the same spot. What's the problem?

Word is that Chicago, New Orleans and the Lions are suitors for Jordans service, surely Al can swindle a 6th round pick outta one of those teams.....

I heard this morning that Lamont had a pre-arranged meeting with the Lions and that we are seeking a 6th/7th round pick.

Don't really have a response, just wanted to quote this beauty for posterity.

The timing is perfect, actually, because I have summer camp coming up next week, and I can't wait to spring this doozy on Billy Jacobson. He always insults me in front of all the cool 14 year-olds. I hate him.

But not this year, Billy!! Nope, just when he thinks he has me on the ropes, and is waiting for me to cry (like last year), I am gonna drop the SANDGINA bomb! Ooooh yeah, I can taste victory.

Yep, with ammo like this, I should be shoo-in for most popular camper this year at Indian Meadows Camp for Mentally Challenged Young Adult Douchebags.

That's the way I see it. If Millen is dumb enough to give us a draft pick, let's go for it. The only stumbling block has to be his salary. I don't think any team is going to pay him the 4 plus million he was slated to make here.

I'd bet NOBODY will give jack shit for him. Why would they? He is going to be released very very soon.

Wait, Matt Millen? Yeah that dumb fuck may give us a second. :p
