View Full Version : If Lane is gone...
I really believe Al Davis fucked up Robert Gallery's career by bringing in new Head Coaches and O-line coaches every year the guy couldn't learn one system and stick with it, thanks Al...
I'm not exactly crazy about Greg Knapp but the guy isn't stupid he has won in the NFL, he's been around for awhile. I think its important he stays in Oakland with Camble, Rathman, DeFilippo, Russell needs the same coaches back and our O-linemen are made for the zone-blocking scheme we NEED Cable!
All the talk about Lofton or Al Saunders, screw them guys.
Head Coach - Rob Ryan
Offensive Coordinator - Greg Knapp
Defensive Coordinator - Don Martindale, Keith Millard or Darren Perry?
What does everyone thing, stay in house or blow it up and start over again with new schemes? whats on everyones mind?

SAUNDERS TO SIT WITH RAIDERS
John Clayton of ESPN reports that former Redskins assistant head coach-offense Al Saunders will interview with the Raiders.
The position for which Saunders will interview is unknown. The Raiders have an offensive coordinator in Greg Knapp. Then again, the Redskins had one, too, when Saunders was hired. And still had one thereafter.
The Rams also are interested in Saunders, who reportedly can have the offensive coordinator position there, if he wants it.
Meanwhile, Kiffin said on Saturday that he hopes to still be the Raiders head coach in 2008. If reports that he has been asked to resign are true, we would advise against betting anything of value on it.
Saunders would make more as an OC with St Louis. Why he would come to this clusterfugg is beyond me.

Sorry bro but another fucked up thread title...
Shouldn't it read "NOW THAT KIFFIN IS GONE"?
Pitiful organization. I am more angry with each hour I have to think about this friggin' mess. I expect Kiffin to be gone very soon.
Turk told me that Tom Flores made a comment on the radio yesterday that Kiffin was as good as gone. Gotta think Tom has some insight. No?

Super Bowl week seems like the most appropriate time for Al to get his name back in the news... I'm still thinking an official statement won't come till later in the week. That way Al can get his media buildup  and then his victory speech  right before the big game....

The Rams are interested in Gregg Williams, just-fired as defensive coordinator in Washington, but only as a secondary coach.
And given Williams' credentials and experience in the NFL, even coach Scott Linehan conceded Saturday that having him agree to join the Rams to coach defensive backs was "a remote possibility."
At this relatively late juncture in the annual offseason "coaching carousel," Williams could have options. Oakland also was believed to be talking to him for a position on its staff, though it's not known which one.

There seems to be a theme here. Maybe Al is just obsessed with the whole interview process. Talking of which, if Saunders comes in wouldn't it be the third time he has interviewed with the Raiders?

I think we're going to see a new offensive scheme, which in effect means that Knapp and Cable will be sharing a cab out of Alameida with Lane...
1) Al has always loved the big, intimidating getting off the bus type of offensive line... I don't believe he was ever comfortable running a cut blocking scheme that utilized smaller linemen... I believe he prefers Gallery be back out at tackle where he drafted him to be and it wouldn't surprise me if that was a point of contention between he and Kiff.... I doubt Cable will want to change up what he believes in, so I think we'll see yet another coach being brought in and the more traditional massive Raider/Cowboy type O-linemen brought aboard...
2) Randy Moss getting open deep this season has probably reaffirmed Al's belief that the vertical offense can still work, and now that he has the big, rocket armed $60 million dollar QB, I expect he'll want bang for his buck... I don't believe Al was ever comfortable with running a Denver style offense backing a Denver style blocking scheme... Sniffing around Saunders, Lofton and Green is a tell tale sign that we're headed back to a Sid Gillman/Ernie Zampese style offense and away from what Knapp does with the WCO IMO.... If we're going to do that, I'd personally like to see Ken Zampese brought in to run it, like I suggested during every other damn coaching search... He did a great job developing Carson Palmer in Cincy and with the Rams passing game during their Super Bowl run...
I think there's going to a lot of unhappy Raider fans this offseason because I think Al is going to aggresively try to gear up on offense and pretty much leave the defense status quo...
Predictions:
* Head coach:Rob Ryan
* Associate head coach/OC: Al Saunders
* DC: Don Martindale
* We'll draft Darren McFadden if he's there
* We'll do whatever it takes to sign Bernard Berrian at the very onset of FA, even if it means drastically overpaying him
* We'll trade our 2nd round pick for Chad Johnson
More speed, more speed, more speed
Final answer.

I think it pretty much throws the draft defense jihad out the window unless of course there is a cornerback involved (Cromartie anyone?). Man Gallery's going to have more offensive personalities than Sybil if Cable is indeed let go. It will be such an Al move to overpay for Berrian, in fact I'll probably guarantee it. He'll then blame everyone else when he's traded in a couple of years. So basically we'll be set back another year with Jamarcus as he's going to have to learn an entirely new and complicated paybook:( And our defense will continue to suck:shakehead:

I simply don't know shit. Period. How's that for a prediction.
A lot has happened since my trip to China. Whew.
Speaking of China, I fulfilled my life long dream of 2 Asian chicks at the same time. Yes I'm bragging and No I don't give a fuck.
Any chance all this Lane Kiffin outta' Oakland shit won't come to fruition? I almost always back Al Davis, but are you telling me 1 year ago he didn't KNOW that Kiffin was going to run some sort of hybrid WCO offense? I think Kiffin did a pretty solid job in year - all things considered - and I was certainly excited about the future.
If all this shit is true, I think it has more to do with JaMarcus Russell and how both guys envision his future more than anything else.
Geez.

What happened to "Just Win Baby"?
Why all the worry about style points?
We're pretty far away from being able to sling it around like Davis wants.
