Probably allows us to get into Lane Kiffin's head a little bit about his thoughts on defense considering Carroll was heavily influenced by Monte Kiffin.

It occurred to me reading that article that Monte kiffin has really been around the block a few times. Guess he figured putting up with the mess in Oakland wasn't his idea of riding into the sunset.

The FS is asked to do a lot which is a pretty good indication why Kiff intends to move Huff:

The defensive backs that are the best run defenders are our safeties. The Free Safety is another player who makes a lot of tackles for us. He has to have good instincts. He is what we call a natural player. You don’t have to coach this player too much. He has to have a feel for the everything and understand the big picture.


This is the Carroll/Seifert defense I was talking about earlier this season that I wanted the Raiders to adapt into their scheme:
