The future is bright.

A good young coach getting rave reviews throughout the league.

A 22 year old QB who has a great arm and a limitless ceiling;

A pair of talented young runningbacks;

A young bruising fullback;

A talented do-it-all Tight end;

A pair of top flight linebackers under the age of 26;

4 young players in the secondary who help control the top pass defence;

Be proud Raider fans, it was a long struggle. If you cant see the light at the end of this tunnel, head to the Queefs forum.

Congrats guys. I was drinking some Jim Beam for all of us today. There was a Bronco fan in the bar. I cheered so loud he bounced in the 3rd Q!

Had to watch the damn stat tracker all game. However I can imagine the Rats face he was crying right; please tell me he was crying Bwhahahaha. Genius my ass fuck you rat face ,and excellent pussy call to kneel on the last play. About fucking time we beat the Donkeys. Al you better keep this Kiffen kid around a few more years.

McClown 3TD's unbelievable. And JR getting some playing time excellent!Wish I could of seen this one.

It was great to see the fans react to JR.

We can't judge much on his 2 series performance, but his first pass was an absolute laser that Culpepper and McCown could only compete in Madden 2008.

Kudos to Kiff & company!

J-Rock looked very poised to say the least. Things i liked about his few plays.

1. He can move very well for a big guy.

2. Protected the football very well in the pocket when he had the scramble. Two hands! Pepp would have put that thing on the turf.

3. Lazer Rocket arm. Did anyone else notice he was looking to go to Z.Miller on that 1st pass and he was covered so he instantly went to the next target and made a great throw very quickly.

4. He fell on the fumble and didnt try to pick it up. Very smart.

The one bad thing. He seemed a little winded and might need to work on conditioning.

WHOOOOOOOOOOOTTTT!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah baby! Felt sweet to beat Shanny and Donks at home.

Kiff is 2 for 2 on his second go round at AFC West Teams. You know what I'm thinkin'......

Great to see (well...didn't see it, watched nfl stat tracker and listened to KSFO online) J Rus get some snaps.

Good points Tron. I did notice on the replay that Miller was the primary go to guy on that play but he did a nice job of spotting Porter on the sideline. Did seem winded and a bit slow on those runs, I suspect it was a major case of nerves.

Exactly what i thought. It was 50% nerves at least. He looked ready to play. Thanks to Kiffin for not rushing him along because his confidence is most likely growing now!

Pleased to see the team hang in there and get a second divisional win.

Pleased for Kiffin picking up another win, it can only be good for our franchise for a multitude of reasons.

Pleased for Fargas who has developed himself into a legitimate NFL player.

Pleased for the defense who played pretty impresive ball except for the first drive and that one long play.

Pleased for Josh McCown who continues to play hurt and do everything he can to help us win. He may/will never have another game for us like that, but I for one am pleased to see him do well and help get us a win.

Pleased for us fans. :D

Hard to complain today...

Back to back dubya's against our two most hated rivals...

JaMarcus got to pop his cherry and McCown played well enough to win...

We ran the ball well...

Defense struggled on the initial drive but stepped up, produced turnovers and held the Donx running game in check...

The Rat was left to bow his ugly, snaggle tooth mug in shame...

I agree that the future is definitely (and finally) looking bright.

Tom Cable is my MVP.

Re-signing Huggy, and I can't believe I'm saying this, should be a priority.

We'll need more RB depth, but I think Bush will be a strong option for us.

Griffith is still young and just does everything well. He's probably got as much upside as a runner in this offense as he does as a blocker. Highly under utilized.

Speaking of guys who need more touches, Miller is going to be a great player for us. Madsen as a TE/WR is a guy we really need to put to better use. I think next year, we will.

A little upgrading on the O-line, along with another offseason of schooling in this system, and we might have the makings of a really nice offense.

The OL has stepped up big the past few weeks. Only one holding call on Gallery as I can recall. Mcnasty's done a decent job filling in for Cornell Green. It's almost a given that Al is going to invest in a big name wideout to go along with his $60 mill investment. Whatever we do, we need to give Huggy a nice little extension. He's quickly becoming one of the best backs in the AFC

Culpepper could make that throw, he just couldn't make it look as easy as Russell did. Russell did not look like he threw it that hard.

Im sure almost every NFL QB can make that throw.

Just not with his zip, accuracy or timing. It was effortless, and the fact that he can put footballs in tighter windows while needing less time for the ball to get there is going to be a great plus for us.

Look at Cutler's throw to Stokely over the middle...If he's a half a second late or slow, thats an INT or a tip.

The one thing that the Raiders have been ALL year (which is what the naysayers ignore) is resilent. Win or lose, always fighting. This is a testament to the coaching staff. The team is unsettled at QB, lacks speed at WR, lacks talent along both lines, but they are always IN the game. Always.

This ship has certainly careened away from the rocks and the calm waters are ahead.

BTW, Justin Fargas now has 863 yards. Incredible.

I gotta give a little love to McCown after all the bashing. Dude threw pretty damned accurately today. First time I've seen that all season.

Definitely saw what having the full complement of plays in Kiff's offense means. That bootleg really keeps the defense honest, especially off play action. Both McCown and Russell ran it well. Russell sold the play action better though. Pretty impressive stuff.

Fargas has really learned that blocking scheme. He hits the holes now like a real pro.

Hiram Eugene is getting comfortable at FS and making some plays. Stu is going to be ass out in the cold next season.

Richardson had a pretty damned good game and collected his 1st sack.

I wanted to toot Eugene's horn but thought I should wait another game or so...

The key for Hiram? Did you even see him whiff or get his ass embarrassed today? I didnt, and all I wan't is solid FS play at this point. Solid game for him.

I think Eugene looked tentative last game. He's starting to look comfortable out there. That's why I brought it up. He made a couple NICE tackles, one left the TE on the sidelines trying to get his breath.

Agreed, it gives us a lot of flexibility. As to who is better, it's almost like arguing over Porter House versus Ribeye. Both are great.

The guys were definitely stepping with pride. Winning will do that for a squad. The W is the payoff for hard work.

I'm looking forward to what this squad will do when they get hit in the mouth. They've already seen what happens when you keep working. You wind up with W's. Now they've got to show that effort in a game against a tougher defense.

Green Bay is an average team across the board defensively except for points given up, they're 7th fewest in points given up. It will be a good test for the offense.

I could see us keeping it close against an injured Brett Favre.

The key in Lambau is always the same. We need to give Fargas 30+ carries again, and keep Favre and all of his spread sets and multple weopons off the field...

Didnt we keep the ball for close to 40 minutes today?

What impressed me most was late in the 3rd/early in the 4th, the Raiders were teetering a bit and Denver had some momentum. In years past, hell in weeks past, that negative momentum would lead to eventual defeat, but the past 2 weeks have been different: We went out and FINISHED the game. It's been a while.

Come what may, I think GB better strap it up next week.

The only 'negative' about McCown playing well today is the delimna Kiffin is bound to have this week about the QB rotation (who starts?).

Hate to say it, but having BOTH McCown & Culpepper continues to muddy the decision making process. Then again, neither can stay healthy so what the fuck do I know?

A BIG part of the equation today was turnovers. Let's not forget that. We didn't get enough of them in the 1st half of the season, and we're making up for it now, but we can't count on them to give us that kind of advantage every game.

Certainly true, but the old adage of 'creating your own luck' has something to do with it. The Raiders, despite getting gashed at times, have been faster and more effective on defense overall.

Seems like Robert Thomas, Jay Richardson, Stanford Routt and even Hiram Eugene are settling in nicely on D.

Yeah, we definitely humped up, bowed our backs and dug out heels in when the going got tough. This team is learning what it takes to win. And they're gaining confidence that the work pays off. I can't say enough about it. But we've done it against a couple weak sisters.

We're going to get a chance to do it against an average defense and a highly ranked offense next week. Time to step up to the challenge.

Let's not forget Fabian Washington laying claim to expanded PT by giving guys a little shirt time. He was a virtual blanket on several plays including his Int. Sure he had more than a little jersey on that play, but it was done in the most professional way. No-one could have flagged it except the cameraman with the zoom lens. Textbook coverage.

Fabian Washington has been playing some solid ball for a weeks now. Just a bit under the radar. I'll even forgive the missed tackle on Marshall early in the game. He scraped and clawed all the way, Marshall just out muscled him. It happens when a dude has foward momentum and a 40 lb. weight advantage. I think has to do with physics or something.

My guess is that even Turdell Sands had a decent game today. The Broncos did NOT run the ball on us save for the 1 drive.

An honest quote from a player, how refreshing.

It always seemed odd how the entire team shrugged off the AFC futility so meekly with the "all the games are the same" crap. BS, these are our RIVALS.

So long as we are competitive in the last 4 games, even if we lose them all, I think the Raiders will be viewed as a team "On The Rise" to many FA's...

It's great to see a guy who was labeled as a bust turn out to be a real player. Especially when you hear that he's always watching film, lifting, asking position coaches about certain situations, etc. I'm talking about Fargas, of course.

Seriously, save the draft pick and don't draft a runningback. Although we may not be able to have a chance at McFadden anyway. It'd be real nice to see a combo of Fargas/Bush next year. I think they'd make a good duo.

Happiest day in a loong time, and the future looks bright. Pass the pipe, please. McCLown had a good day, but in the end who cares? The thing is we had a glimpse of the future and it was good. Russell was stiff, but he is made to be there. First and most mportant thing: he didn't turn the ball over, even if he was involved in two situations. The playcalling was adequate for him and his arm is NFL approved. His decisions were OK, did nothing stupid. It would'va been great to see him handle the ball to Michael Bush but that's a dream deferred to next year.

In some way we may have turned the corner, but that's what we thought last two in a row wins. This time looks more solid. They've spilled enough blood on the ground.

It's good to see a lot of people notices how suddenly the potential is ready for the near future. Probably McClown will stay and will serve as a backup to Russell. I was impressed by the framebody. Once he gets in sync with the pro speed he'll be a force to reckon with. something like McNair but with much more passing game.

Fargas and Bush will be the ball carriers. Jordan and Rhodes should be gone. If they stay they would waste their time here. ONeal and Griffith are unsung heroes. I'd give the ball more foten to them. The best players since Jon Ritchie, but with a lot of room to develope.

The OL needs major rehab. One legitimate #1 WR and some patches on defence; then we will see for real what kinda system Kiffin is gonna use. So far he has proved he can be conservative and aggressive, not much yet, but you can see there's mean in there. You need this to be effective.

Well we are running a very similar to Dungver scheme running game. If we stick to the overall philosophy, we'll never draft a 1st round RB in Kiffin's tenure, nor should we. With that said you never know.

We should have kicked the field goal to run up the score instead of going for it on 4th and 6.

Kiff needs to learn to stick his finger in Shanahan's eye whenever he can.

This was a solid win for us. I thought the KC game was shaky, but this one was a nice statement.

Fuck McCown. He had a good game. Every QB has some of those. Fargas and the defense won this one for us. Again. The stats tell it all. 3 TD passes but only 141 yards. That means the running game carried his ass, the defense and ST coverage gave us great field position and McCown capitalized on the fantastic opportunities they gave him.

I'm nor saying he didn't play a good game. He was efficient and accurate. But he'll never do it consistently.

The announcers said Kiffin didn't want to risk a blocked kick for TD. But I suppose you risk a fumble or pick-six by going for it.

Kiffin Refuses to Comment after Russell's Debut --
Mon Dec 3, 2007 --from FFMastermind.com

The Contra Costa Times reports Oakland Raiders No. 1 overall draft pick QB JaMarcus Russell made is pro debut Sunday when he graced the field for two unremarkable series in the second quarter of yesterday's game against teh Broncos. He showed that he is competent, confident and deserving of more playing time between now and the end of the season. Raiders HC Lane Kiffin refused to commit to Russell beyond Sunday. He said he isn't sure it's such a good idea to play him in a cold-weather game against the Green Bay Packers this Sunday.

No shit and let's not forget they have a really good Offense.......but I say get him in there some either way I just hope we are in the game to the point where he isn't pressured to do something.....

Wow, that was the best game I've attended since 2002. It was a legit sellout, but the crowd was pretty tame for the most part probably because they were waiting for the inevitable 4th quarter choke job. When Washington picked off Cutler and the Raiders started driving down the field the place was going nuts.

But it all pales in comparison to when Russell started warming up on the sidelines. The place started building a slow roar and when he put his helmet on and trotted out it was insane. It's the loudest I've heard any Oakland crowd since they clinched the AFC West vs. Denver in 2002. It was absolutely electric. And to see him get out there an in a rhythm right away was just the topping on the cake.

I'll say this much... it's been 3 years since I saw him in person but I completely forgot our fucking huge this guy is. And he looks like he's dropped about 10 lbs. The only guy on the field that was bigger than Russell was Robert Gallery. Tim Dwight can give JRuss head standing up.

Overall a great game and a great, great atmosphere. Props to the offensive line for playing together for 4 quarters. We haven't seen that since week 3. McCown did what he was supposed to do... not lose the game. Hell, he even made his share of plays so he gets props too. Fargas is not relinquishing his death-grip on the starting RB job and now it will be very interesting to see how the Raiders deal with this situation in the offseason.

Our best pass rusher right now is Chris Clemons. He's a full step faster than Burgess getting out of the blocks right now. I wonder if the lower calf thing is still troubling him.

Well, that's about it. I have no voice today thanks to chants or Raaaaaaaiiiiiidddderrsss and LSU, LSU, LSU when Russell came in. My meetings today will be conducted via mime and jazz hands (thanks for the jazz hands lessons, hawaiianboy... you are a true master!). I'll be at the Indy game if any of you guys will be making the trip as well.

Otherwise, I can't think of a better weekend... the Raiders beat up the Donkeys decisively and my LSU Tigers will be playing Ohio State for the National Championship.

Geaux Tigers!

Geaux Russell!

Geaux Raiders!!!!

I didn't get to watch the game until last night, but I was really happy about a lot of things, not so happy about others.

Fabian Washington: Okay. He redeemed himself with the interception, but damn! When he tackles, he needs to wrap up and do it! Until the INT, I was highly unimpressed with his tackling ability. Given the usually-porous run defense, the corners have to tackle very well.

JaMarcus Russell: I'm not done being mad at him, but kudos for several plays. I liked the ball awareness, and I'm holding out hope that experience will give him some touch on the ball. Not everything needs to knock people's fingers off when they try to catch it.

Chris Clemons: How absolutely wonderful it felt to see a pass rush.

Justin Fargas: What a tremendous "F-You" season he's had. The greatest part about this guy is that his will to win seems to be infectious.

Lane Kiffin: I loved to see his enthusiasm and celebration. I'm also impressed so far with his ability to temper his enthusiasm with the knowledge that there's still a lot of work to be done.

Best part of the game: Seeing the Broncos play like the Raiders. The lack of Raider penalties and the abundance of Bronco penalties was great! This improvement speaks to me of good coaching and buy in.

MVP: Tom Cable.

Kiffin calls near-perfect game in Raiders' win

The scoreboard wasn't needed to tell the outcome of Sunday's AFC West contest between the Oakland Raiders and Denver Broncos. The face of Denver head coach Mike Shanahan said it all.

Shanahan and the Broncos lost their first game to the Raiders in over three years, when they fell at home by one point on Nov. 28, 2004. Furthermore, it was the first time they lost a game in Oakland since Dec. 22, 2002.

Quarterback Josh McCown, who started the game in place of the injured Daunte Culpepper, posted his best numbers of the season. The 28-year-old completed 67 percent of his pass attempts for 141 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions.

The cheering in McAfee Coliseum reached a season high, however, when McCown forfeited seven pass attempts to rookie QB JaMarcus Russell. The 6-foot-6, 255-pounder's first NFL toss was a 16-yard completion to veteran wideout Jerry Porter, who showed tremendous concentration along the sidelines to make the grab. Russell played two series, and ended his pro debut 4 of 7 for 56 yards.

Again, the story on the ground for the Raiders was 27-year-old halfback Justin Fargas, who registered his fourth 100-plus-yard outing of the season; it's was also his second consecutive game over the century mark. The 220-pounder rushed 33 times for 146 yards and a fourth-quarter touchdown, which put Oakland up by 14 with just over three minutes remaining in the game.

Fargas now has 181 carries for 863 yards (4.8 yards per carry) and three touchdowns on the season. The fifth-year running back is in a contract year, and it will be interesting to see how Oakland plans to deal with Fargas once the offseason arrives. Either way, an impressive second half of this season has essentially guaranteed Fargas of a bright future somewhere in the NFL.

In the pass-catching department, Porter had another solid outing -- one that looked more impressive on the field than on the stat sheet. The 29-year-old hauled in five passes for 49 yards on the game, including a 13-yard TD on the team's second drive of the second half. Porter now has 13 grabs for 212 yards and one touchdown over the pass three weeks.

The recently signed Tim Dwight also caught a pretty, over-the-shoulder touchdown reception on the Raiders' opening drive. It was a 15-yard grab, and it ended up being his last of the game.

On the sidelines, first-year head coach Lane Kiffin called perhaps his best game of the season, continuing to successfully pass in the fourth quarter with a lead when running the ball is usually the top priority. Kiffin also made great use of the screen play and bootleg, particularly on two critical third downs late in the game.

A 13-yard screen to fullback Justin Griffith picked up a much-needed first down on a third-and-11 play with just over six minutes remaining in the game. Three plays later, Kiffin called a designed bootleg in a third-and-2 situation. McCown rolled out and ran free for 11 yards and the Raiders scored two plays later.

"You can tell that they are very well coached," Shanahan told Steve Corkran of the Mercury News. "They're much improved from what I've seen in the past. You can see that the players are playing extremely hard."
Next week, the Raiders (4-8) will travel to Green Bay to face the 10-2 Packers.

I'm sorry...do we know you?

Something to note is that these last two weeks were the first time Kiff's had a second crack at a team, and he did a great job... improved the gameplan well enough to get it done.

You would be wrong there. Turd was blown out most of the game as usual. He provides nothing to the D and is truly a disappointment in my mind.

I'd have to agree. Denver just walked in untouched from the 5 yard line on both their TD runs. Had high hopes for the guy this season.

Hey, Focus on my Fabian Washington take !!!!

Well, the TD runs looked bad, but Denver rushed for less than 100 yds. I'll take it and they were committed to it IMO.
