Subjective Raider Scorecard

I wanted to step back and take an unbiased, quantifiable look at our team and put together a little scorecard. It's got 10 criteria, which I believe are the most important, and each is scored on a 1-10 scale (10 being the highest). It's totally unofficial and there may be some overlap, but it's interesting to me to see them in this light. Below is my team rating...what do you guys score them?

Well I am looking at a 49 so that is bad, but I won't blame the coaches yet.....Give Kiffin and Ryan one more year and some more, scratch that better players.

Coaching - there are a lot of areas that they do well. The offense is once again hampered by a severe lack of talent. The defense has regressed a bit. I rate them slightly above average at this point.
Rushing Offense - it's right up there throughout the categories. It can still get shut down, but almost everyone does. Even LT has been kept in check. The biggest knock on our running game is their lack of TD's.
Passing Offense - it's light years better than last season, but it's still fighting to stay off the league cellar in many categories. I just can't give them a 3 at this point. They're so close to it though. LOL!
Kicking - FG's are a low percentage. Kicks off are killer. The FG's have been better after a very slow start.
Punting - At or near the top in almost every category. It doesn't get any better.
Run Defense - I'm not sure why I gave them 1 point at all. Oh yeah, it's a 1-10 scale.
Pass Defense - We rank pretty well in everything but yards per attempt and sacks. There we settle into the lwoer third. Man coverage will suffer as pressure on the QB diminishes.
ST Coverage - Kick returns are average, punt returns are top 10. Better than average overall. Bottling Hester was pretty damned impressive.
Turnover Ratio - Second worst ratio in the league. There's nothing else to say.
Penalties - I kind of broke this one in half. We're near the worst in the league. However, we're really that bad on offense, not defense, so I mitigated the score.

I like the direction we're taking with a lot of things, but Ryan has failed to live up to the expectations most everyone had entering the season which drags the score down...

Passing Offense: 2
Just awful QB play so far and the WR play hasn't been anything to write home about...

Rushing Offense: 7
I marked it down one just because we failed so often in short yardage situations... Good rushing offenses go out and get those 3rd and 1's consistently...

Field Goals: 7
Jano has turned it up a notch, but he's going to have to make a couple at the end of games before I feel comfortable...

Punting: 10
After an off year plagued by too many touchbacks, Lech is back to Pro Bowl form...

Run Defense: 1
No if's and's or but's, it stinks and it's an embarassment...

Pass Defense: 4
Too many third and long conversions given up again, too many 4th quarter drives allowed and a big part of pass defense is getting to the QB...

ST Coverage Units: 7
Noticeably better when Coop and Ike returned... Too bad Isaiah K got hurt in preseason...

Turnover Ratio: 1
Too many unforced fumbles and rookie mistakes being made by two veteran QB's that should know better...

Penalties: 1
I can live with penalties made of aggression and with penalties that stop your QB from being killed, but the stupid lack of mental focus ones are another story... Good God, Ronald Curry has had three false starts in the past two weeks... Bring back 100 yard suicide sprints as punishment and it'll start...


46 points out of a 100 and you can go ahead and dock another 25 points for having an inept front office... 21 reflects about where we're at 5 years removed from a Super Bowl appearance... Kiff needs to flush a good portion of this current roster right down the toilet and our front office needs to have a good draft and free agency game plan done and in place ... Buying a six pack of scrubs and hoping one becomes something is just not getting it done...

Coaching 7 Freshness bonus. Shows some imagination. Many
things still to test. Is not by far the
weakest link in this team

Rushing Offense 7 It looks like they have a good system. Still
pretty much underdeveloped.

Passing Offense 1 Everything has been said. It sucks big time.

Kicking 9 Been booming the ball. Had a bad moment at
the beginning, costly, but after that, good.

Punting 10 A wasted precious weapon. Useful in playoffs.

Run Defense 1 There's a system problem here. It reeks.

Pass Defense 6 They give up big plays and surrender territory
like hell in critical drives

ST Coverage Units 6 They've been playing better lately, but they
had atrocious moments at the beggining

Turnover Ratio 4 Cos it looks worse than it really is


Penalties 1 Dumb patrol. Smart players don't do
this. But Raiders always been like that

Front Office: 0
Too obvious.

Coaching: 0
Teacher's Pets, QB Dog-n-pony show, outcoached in practically every game... Most horrific piece of coaching I've seen since the dumbest coach in America's final year.

Pass Offense: 1
Only good game of the season came last week... so I guess we're improving. :rolleyes:

Rush Offense: 5
Strength of the offense... Has flashed at times... but is a real RB away from a 10.

Kicking Game: 8
Would have been a 10 if Jano wasn't blowing kicks in September...

Run Defense: 0
Still pissed we didn't address this last year...

Pass Defense: 5
With a piss poor pass rush and an awful performance last week, a 5 is a gift.

Turnovers: 2
Our LBs started off hot... only reason I even gave this category a 2...

Penalties: 0
What else is new...

Intangibles: 0
One of the most UN-entertaining Raider teams I have ever seen. Defense... yawn.... Offense... yawn.... Future.... Non-existent....
