Anyone else getting concerned about what really is behind the man from LSU?
I mean look at this picture taken yesterday in NY, he looks like a body guard for Michael fuckin Jackson
WTF is up with that ring and them stupid fuckin glasses?
Word is he's sporting a $25,000 watch
What?
Bro, show up in some jeans, and get rid of the bling bling shit
I dunno about you guys, but he's beginning to rub me the wrong way.. I see a potential LONG, LONG holdout, I guarantee this dudes gonna wanna set a record for the highest paid #1 overall ever, in fact I wouldnt be surprised if he wants to be the highest paid QB in the NFL, higher than Peyton Manning
I'm starting to not trust this guys motives
The whole Nike swoosh lapel thing at his conference. This guy to seems to be more concerned about himself than he is about being a football player
I dunno, Elbows getting sore here fellas, and thats usually a sign something bads about to happen

Come on, it should be at least slightly "off-putting" to anyone, regardless of race. Show some modesty dude, even if you have to fake it.
Funny how it's OK to lambast Brady Quinn for being a "cocky, prick, frat boy", but if someone critiques Russell for being overly "bling-blinged", then it's a race issue?
Frankly, I'm more & more on board with Calvin Johnson or trade down than either of these QB's.

Funny but I don't see Brady sporting Bling Biling on loan until he can fleece an NFL team for 30 mil. JR needs to act like he doesn't think he walks on water for at least 24 more hours. Serious self esteem problem in the outing here. I have no respect for a rookie in any trade that takes his opportunities for granted. He needs to STFU and STFD and earn some of that Bling before he starts acting like all that. Do you feel me bruh?

I was just comparing how it seems perfectly OK to tear down BQ on the perception that he's a "snotty", "prick", "frat boy", but the second people tear down JR for the perception that he's "bling-blinged out", it's a suddenly a race issue? It's either OK to blast both players equally or we should leave both alone, but there should not be a double standard IMO.

Here's the deal can anyone of us say we don't need a franchise QB? No, we have needed one for some time. I hate to say it but I think we are drafting Russell even know I am not Sold on him....then again I am not sold on any QB ever!!!!!! Lienart included and also Rothlisburger. The last QB in the Draft I would have seriously drafted was Payton. Other then him I don't think there is anyone that I liked on draft day in the last 10 years...
I would like to see us trade down and come away with a ton of late first and
2nd round picks.....we would be able to stock pile D & O linemen and a WR or a RB if we get something for Moss that is.
I just know that we won't pull off that kind of a deal. Kiffin I don't think would want that kind of Pressure. If he drafts a Russell and the Kid Busts, it won't be the HC's fault.......IF we draft Russell or Johnson I won't be pissed either way. If we want Quinn then trade down and pick him up at 4 or just trade for McCown and draft a Kolb and Let Walter and those two battle it out.
If we do that we would have some high picks and hopefully they all work out.

Russell won the "bling" award. He had a massive silver watch, a big silver ring, and silver trim on sides of his black sunglasses. This is what he had to say about what else a team would get from him beyond his much-publicized arm strength: "I'm a very intelligent guy. I'm a great competitor. I'm very reliable on the field. LeBron James and His "on-loan" pre-draft Hummer revealed horrible character flaws that have continued to plague him and undercut his level of professional play.
Right.
Having taught in Hunter's Point and SF Juvenile Hall (YGC), as a "white guy" I understand a little bit about this culture. JR has lived without while his school and those associated with his ability have made a lot of money. By rule, he couldn't have any. Now it's getting close and he knows it and he wants some.
Let me ask this of ya'll. If you won the lottery today ($30 million let's say) but weren't going to see your first check for a few days (when JR's endorsements will start to flow) would you live your life as a normal person until your check showed up, or might you go out and enjoy a little free-time and spending in anticipation of the windfall?

I'm sure Tiger Woods hasn't buried all of his endorsement dollars in mason jars. I'd imagine he's spent a good deal of it... and he's still A-numero-uno in the golf world.

OK, fair points. Still, these are high profile (thus in the public) young men. If I were his agent, I'd advise him to tone it down just a bit. There is nothing wrong with displaying a bit of what I'd call "humble proffesionalism", particularly for a Franchise QB. That is all.

IMHO Nobody rises to the top of their chosen vocation (He is still a College player until tomorrow and he is in the top 1%) without a serious me-first attitude. People have been glomming onto this guy since High School, and this is his moment in front of the world. He's imagined it a million times in his mind, and if in that moment he sees himself with a big ring, a nice watch ($25K in the watch-world of bling is NOT even top 10%) and some slick shades - I have no problem with that. The guys never been in a lick of trouble, helps people out, is quiet most of the time and is liked and respected by his teammates. I do not think he is unlearnig all he knows and has done until now. IMHO I'm glad to see him come out of his shell a little bit because I don't know about how that shy attitude will come across in an NFL huddle of grown men.
But, in my special place, would I like to see more humility in our heroes? Do I worry about what this trend says about my daughters' generation? Yes. I would and do.
But this isn't my world anymore. It belongs to this generation, and their princes will be walking the stage in NYNY at the Radio City Music Hall tomorrow and JR will not be the only one to look the part of royalty.

Don't see what the big deal is. This shouldn't be anything new. So he dresses like DRuss and CWood... and he's going to get drafted by the same exact owner those guys did. The same owner who hasn't changed a single bit in 80 years. So What? We're a 2-14 team. It's not like it can get any worse.
This is the kind of reasoning you guys are going to need to adopt.
;)
The owner hasn't changed a single bit? How do you explain Rich Gannon's tenure with the team?
Either Al Davis changed and selected a smart yet weak armed quarterback to lead his team OR Al Davis changed and allowed a coach to make his own decision as to who the quarterback would be.
But, hey... don't let me interfere with your feeling superior about your ability to reason...

And as soon as JR proves he's A-numero-uno in the football world, I'll be nice and comfortable with anything he wants to do. If he takes us to the promised land he can pork Dennis Rodman in the ass while wearing jewelry made from human teeth for all I care.
So your problem is that JaMarcus Russell had the hubris to spend money that he was given before he's proven himself on the field?
Hey, I got news for you, Ring... if that's the criteria, there's not a prospect in the nation that's worthy of the #1 overall pick.

If this were true, then we'd be following Kiffin's recommendation, which I highly doubt is Russell. Russell makes about as much sense in the WCO as Jeff George did when Gruden took over.

So....
Al Davis gave his young coach the ability to make his own call on which quarterback he wanted when Gruden was the coach... but... if we take Russell, it means that Al Davis did not give his young coach the ability to make his own call on which quarterback he wanted when Kiffen was the coach.
Do you not see why I'm picking on your "Al Davis never changes a single bit" comment here?

Not really considering you've spun an entirely new context out of the original quote which was "The same owner who hasn't changed a single bit in 80 years". Real simple. If Davis lets Kiffin get his guy, then I'd be the first to say Davis has changed for the better... but when Davis takes Russell... it's the same old Davis.
Your context implies that Davis changes his mind or goes back and forth from one thing to another. That's already well known and nothing new from Davis. Just look how many times he's gone back and forth from WCO to the typical Davis long ball.

Russell won the "bling" award.
He is a winner which is what is important. :D

Oh, and PS, Quinn has 2 Hummers H2 already.
Then I don't want either of them but If we are going to go QB at least get the one who has actually run a NFL offense. I would prefer to trade down.
