This time of the year alot of good "Football Players" get outshined by guys who are more athletic. We are notorious for selecting potential and athleticism and not "Football" guys. Since its slow i was wondering what guys everyone thinks are going to be very good in the NFL to spite poor combine #'s etc. Here's a few guys who i think are going to be solid pro's who have bad #'s

1. LaMaar Woodley- undersized, not very fast, and is kind of a tweener at 6'2 270. Could play DE or OLB or both. This guy was the #1 threat for Michigans D when they were playing great before their last two games, not Branch, not Leon Hall and not David Harris. This guy was causing HAVOC for teams O-Lines and blocking Scheme's. He is a poor mans Dwight Freeney but not as fast and better against the run. He was a force last year and is going to be a major contributer to someobody's defense. Especially if he goes to a coach who implements different looks. His sack and tackles wewnt up every year. 11.5 sacks last season.

2. Damieon Hughes- Another guy who plays great on the field but tested poorly. Wont have the speed to be a superstar but could be a pro-bowl guy if used in the right defense.

3. Paul Posluszny- He is slightly below AJ Hawk in my book. Not as fast or flashy but this guy is going to be a run stopper and a great player. He is going to be a first rounder so this is a stretch but he should be the #1 LB IMO. A true football player.

4. Zach MIller- He has been dropping like a stone after his poor 40 time and non-impressive 16 reps on the bench. But on the field he gets rave reviews. Him and Olsen were neck and neck until their 40's came out and now Z.MIller is mid round 2 and Olsen MId round 1. Another example of people forgetting what happned on the field.

These are just a couple guys who I think are suffering from potential hypeitis, players who havent performed as well are being projected above them. As Raider fans we understand how drafting like this can bite you in the ass. Kirk Morrison is one of the best players we have drafted recently and he is a football player not an athlete. Anybody got anyone else?

HB Blades... Too small, too slow... but is in on just about every play everytime I've watched Pitt...

HB Blades honestly reminds me of Kirk Morrison lite.

A little smaller and a tinch slower, but he's a player.

He'll start as a ST's ace, and eventually supplant some underachiever, IMO.

Blades is a good one, I watched a few Pitt games and he was a force. I also think Dwayne Jarrett is going to be very good. He hasnt clocked a 40 yet but he is way better than Mike Williams ever was. Its not really a fair comparison, they are two different people. Mike Williams didnt seem interested in being a very good pro and was coming off a year away from football. I think DJ should get a clean slate.

Maybe Kyle Young can make his way onto this list. His testing was so bad he might not be drafted!

Kyle Young will be lucky to get drafted second day. WTF? The dude was a bona fide first day pick a short time back.

Dumbass got kicked off of his team and then showed up at his pro day weighing 355 and looking like Jabba the Hut...

He reminds me of Barrett Robbins. The good AND the bad.

As bad as our O-Line was, i would be down with taking a flyer on him with our last pick. Kiffin did go to Fresno... we are taking at least one guy form there mark my words. The RB, WR or Kyle Young.

Or Chris Denman as a developmental tackle...

Someone is going to get an ablosute gem in Eric Weddle, corner/safety from Utah. not real big or super fast but he's got more "it" factor than any secondary player i've seen in college. always in the right place with superrior instincts.

I also love that Shuman kid from Boise St. Not the biggest tight end around but might be the nastiest. He plays old-school, tough football.

Ryan Smith made a lot of plays for the Gators last year, but he's short, slight of frame and slow (for his size).

Might not get drafted at all.

I have been hearing alot of good things about Weddle. Kind of reminds me of STU though. Just like Kalil reminds me of Grove and Thomas of Gallery, these draft demons wont go away.

Good thread, hope you guys keep this going because I really don't watch college football anymore. This gives me an insight on players that I wouldn't normally here about.

Agreed. I watch just enough to catch blurbs on some of the higher-touted players.. and usually watch a bunch of USC games due to my buddies having graduated from there. Other than that.. not a huge NCAA guy.
