View Full Version : 2 guys falling in draft circles

Marshawn Lynch and Dwayne Jarrett are both falling on draft boards and in draft circles due to legal troubles and questionable speed respectively. That could work out very well for us... but the problem comes in not that one of them falls to our 2nd round pick but if we were to pick CJ or AP #1 that it would eliminate the need for the falling player.

just some speculation but something tells me one of them will be available at our #33 overall pick.

I've heard round about that Lynch travels with a tough crowd in Oakland. Could be a problem. He might be better off as far away from Oakland as he can get. On the other hand maybe getting into pro football will be a benefit although with his alleged legal problems having a lot more money might make it worse. I've been high on this guy. Looks to be the real deal but character is becoming such a big issue in pro sports that teams are looking twice as hard at players with any sort of character issues as they should. It's tough to make a mistake on day one.

I have reservation about Jarrett. Don't ask me why.

I think Jarrett has some Mike Williams stank on him. Big and wont run a great 40.

Yeah, the hope that Marshawn Lynch falls right into our laps in the second is a bit of a tease... Even if he does we'll probably bypass him the same way we bypass other favs of mine that fall unexpectedly (Marcus McNeil, Winston Justice) :(

You got to wonder why a lack of top end speed would drop Jarrett but not be a question when it comes to Calvin Johnson?... Both would seem to have the same built up accelaration if you ask me... Neither are quick twitch athletes... As long as they can get open and hold onto the ball, it doesn't matter much obviously... I do think that the previous rankings that had Jarrett going in the 7-10 range was a stretch... As much as some people dislike him for whatever reason, I'd love to see Tedd Ginn Jr slip to our spot in RD2...

Cj is projected at 4.45 and Jarrett's at 4.65, im not sure how accurate those are but a reasonable difference. Tedd Ginn woudl be awesome in Rnd 2.

Why?

*ducks*Hmmmm... :D

You got to wonder why a lack of top end speed would drop Jarrett but not be a question when it comes to Calvin Johnson?...Because Johnson is the media darling and the surest "can't miss" prospect since Tony Manderich and Robert Gallery! :p Wait, he's a WR...I meant can't miss prospects like Keyshawn Johnson (1st - '96); Michael Westbrook (4th - '95); Ike Hilliard (7th - '97); Peter Warwick (4th - '00); David Terrell (8th - '01). ANYBODY is capable of being ordinary even Calvin Johnson.

Both would seem to have the same built up accelaration if you ask me... Neither are quick twitch athletes...But the USC haters don't like Jarrett sooo...CJ is can't miss. OK..I guess so.

As much as some people dislike him for whatever reason, I'd love to see Tedd Ginn Jr slip to our spot in RD2...Now you're really setting yourself up for some heartbreak.

I love CJ but if he shows up at the combine and runs a 4.4, I'll be like that Bears fan and legally change my name to Peyton Manning... :D

Top end speed isn't what makes him special... I think he and Jarrett are mid 4.5 guys at best...

More impressive than Ginn Jr's top end speed is his start/stop acceleration & his elusiveness is off the charts. If this dude is in the 2nd when we pick, I don't see how could NOT take him.

He could return kicks and play WR !!!!!

Shit, if Al see's that Utube video, he might take him #1.

Ginns speed is unreal....and as mentioned, his 0-60 is nuts. Top end speed on some of those plays he pulls from the defender some 15 yards.

He is way to fast to fall into round 2. I think Bowe is our only WR hope round 2.

I like Meachem and Rice as second rounders (Maybe even the slipping Jarrett)...

In any other draft year, they are top 20 picks. This draft could have 5-7 WR first rounders... :O

I doubt he falls that far but I would love this pick. I don't think he passes NE at 30. (or wherever they pick).

I dunno they need LB's in the worst way also. And you know Bill dont need no talented WR's he made Gaffney look nasty!

Supposedly CJ has been clocked at 4.33 in pre-combine workouts.

Hey Peyton :D Calvin Johnson runs a 4.33 in the 40

Calvin Johnson, preparing for the league's scouting combine in Indianapolis next week, was clocked at 4.33 in the 40. He also recorded an 11-foot standing broad jump and had a vertical leap of 43 inches.

While Johnson might not be the first player chosen, he is clearly separating himself as the top player in the 2007 NFL draft. Johnson is a rare talent. He is 6'-4", 234 pounds, and runs a 4.33 40 yard dash!

His combination of size, speed, hands, intelligence and work ethic are unheard of at the receiver position. Think Randy Moss talent with a Marvin Harrison work ethic. In fact Johnson is actually 25 pounds bigger then Moss and if the 4.33 - 40 is accurate, just as fast.

The same was said of Larry Fitzgerald and then he went out and ran a 4.64 on a fast track at the combine... Roy Williams was supposedly running 4.28's and went 4.48 at the combine... Like Fitz, I don't think CJ's 40 time matters at all as they use their size, strength and route running to seperate...but Lee Evans ran a 4.39 at the combine and there's no way in hell CJ is faster than Evans...

Pre-combine times are always greatly exaggerated to create a buzz... I'm not worried...

signed,
Peyton Manning

Pre combine times are always to be taken with a grain of salt...

I always seem to think that its NFL scouts, draftniks and personnel guys saying who's running what, in order to generate false buzz on prospects and divert attention off of their true targets...

I be willing to paypal everyone on this site 10 bucks if CJ runs a sub 4.35 at the combine.

Yeah i was shocked by that also. So far they have AP and CJ running 4.3's. If one of them does i think he might be #1 overall.

It looks like we may be able to get Z.Miller at the top of round 3. I still want to draft this guy. I dont care that he isnt going to stretch the field etc, does every fucking player have to be a deep threat. I like my Tight ends to be beefy and slow. I want a mother fucker who is gonna block and break tackles not play WR. Good hands+Good Blocking=First downs
4.5 + Goodhands = every fucking WR in the NFL

If Olsen falls into round two i know Al wouldnt pas on him. The guy might be a player but i just dont like watching Tight Ends drop and raise crazily becasue of a .3 difference in 40 time at the combine with shorts on.

02-25-2007, 11:14 AM
I'd take Olsen in round 2 or Miller in round 3.

We just need a real TE.

Im afraid the deal didnt work.

Official combine time was a 4.35...

The deal stipulated a 'sub 4.35' ...:D

I still feel silly for saying it though. Dude is a beast.

I guess I'll owe you a beer if and when I make it to Vegas next summer.

God I hope the Raiders trade Moss and take CJ.

I honestly could live (and love)

Any of:

CJ
AP
Russell

and a lesser, trade down type deal...Quinn or Thomas.

If we call anyone but those three at #1, I'll lose it.

I'd be totally stoked with CJ, AP, JT or a trade down to anywhere between 2 and 5.
