Davis remains committed to keeping malcontent wide receivers Randy Moss and Jerry Porter unless he gets a huge price in trade. Davis remains fearful that either of the players will go elsewhere and play well again.

Why the fuck are we keeping them? They clearly don't want any part of this team.

That sounded like horse shit. Did you notice there was a shot about Al after every blip. I could see Al trying to make it work with Moss but i think Porter wants out bad. Besides at this point its all specualtion, the playoffs are still going on.

Nice find bro.... but I'm not sure I buy the hype that they don't want to be part of the team...

1. I thought it was pretty evident that neither player wanted anything to do with Art Shell, as opposed to the Raiders.

2. The fact that Davis has yet to bring Shell back in any capacity is more of an indictment on Shell, than either Moss or Porter.

3. Moss has gone on record supporting RR for coach. If he's going to bat for RR, I think he still wants to be a part of the team.

4. Probably most important, neither player has any trade value. We're pretty much stuck with them.

5. Davis is a risk taker. The upside of keeping them far outweighs the downside of them chilling on the sidelines.

---------------------------------

On a side note, RR is reportedly getting his shot this weekend. My hunch is he'll be Davis' last interview, even though this article implies otherwise...

Earlier this week, the Raiders interviewed the Southern California quarterbacks coach, Steve Sarkisian. Oakland’s defensive coordinator, Rob Ryan, is expected to interview over the weekend.

The Detroit Lions (http://topics.nytimes.com/top/news/sports/profootball/nationalfootballleague/detroitlions/index.html?inline=nyt-org)’ offensive coordinator, Mike Martz, could also be brought in for a second consecutive year for an interview, and the Raiders also plan to talk to at least one or two minority candidates.

The old saying rings true "the dogs wouldn't eat it".

Don't be surprised if Oakland's Davis puts up a fuss over paying the departed Shell his entire $2 million owed for next season. Davis once short-changed Mike Shanahan after firing him, forcing Shanahan to go to the league to arbitrate the matter. According to two sources, Davis' final meeting with Shell was extremely contentious, which was surprising treatment of a former Raiders player.

I bet Shell thinks Al backstabbed him. Shell was too damn confident that he was guaranteed a 2nd season. I think he was totally blindsided by the firing. Maybe if it had dawned on him before the season started that he could be fired after 1 season he might have done things a lot differently.

I agree with all 5 of SoCal's points.

If the Raiders get a head coach and an O-coordinator Moss & Porter can believe in then it's not unrealistic to think that they can both be very productive again.

I'm not saying I'm real 'big' on either guy at this point, but I CAN see some logic behind keeping them onboard.

If Art Shell was 'blindsided' by the firing then he's more of an idi0t than we already know him to be.

You take Norv Turner's mess and make it ...... more messy (2-14) and you'd best be looking over your shoulder.

You've got to notch some wins.

Art sucked dick, plain and simple.

I don't care if we hire Moss' mama as HC. I want this piece of trash gone. Fuck Al Davis if he doesn't grasp the concept of one bad player fucking up an entire team. Terrell Owens has sank more ships than a german U-Boat, and Moss is in a similar vein...except that Owens at least puts forth an effort when he's on the field.

Ugh. This thread has made me ill. I'm going to bed.

See I have a different view then most of you......ONE of them has to go.....two malcontents fuck us up One can be brought around with a few TD's or Wins early........If we Draft Russell and Moss and Curry Start every game next year we could easily win 15 games!

Whatever happens, Curry has earned the right to be a starter. He was one of the lone bright spots on this offense through this clusterfuck of a season. If retaning Moss & Porter mean that Alvis Whitted doesn't see the field, I'm all for it.

I'm willing to forget all about last year and Moss. As much as I wanted to crack that Mofo...

I'm not saying he was right what he did, but c'mon, that guy was getting the ball thrown to him like 2 times a game

The Colts offensive play calling has no problem getting the ball to Harrison on a consistant basis.. We couldnt even get the dude the ball 2 times

If we get an OC in here that can draw up a new scheme that has more than 2 passing plays

I think Moss could change his attitude

And will see soon enough was a new HC is hired, I'm sure the media whores out there will be all over a statement from Moss

I'm sure we'll be able to read between the lines of both him and Porter

Lets just all hope with the new HC, and new OC that whatever statement Moss makes is upbeat and positive

Because as bad as I wanted to choke the MF'er last year for his comments and lack of effort...

He's still one of the better WR in the NFL.. And Jerry Porter although his nubers dont reflect it.. I believe is as good a #2 WR as they come in the NFL

I'd like to see Oakland take Russel and a TE in rd 2 and with the new OC and plenty of good passing plays that Moss and Porter will become our Harrison and Wayne

We get that passing game going and it will open up the run game

Amen brother.

Randy moss can f-off for all the sh!t he pulled last year. I say trade this clown to some desperate team for a 3rd or a 4th. Porter too for that matter. The last thing we need are more cancer cells on this team - it spreads fast.
