Broncos' Elam Kicking In Practice Again
Darrent Williams Listed As Questionable
By Don Schwartz, DenverBroncos.com
(CBS4/DenverBroncos.com) ENGLEWOOD, Colo. Jason Elam took his first practice kicks since injuring his hamstring on a fake field goal against Seattle. Though he connected on field goals of 34 and 33 yards last Sunday at San Diego, Elam had been resting his hamstring during practice.
Elam felt good enough on Thursday to take a swing at his normal routine.
"It feels a lot better than it did at this time last week," Elam said. "I don't know that I'll necessarily be 100 percent or anything, but I wasn't going to kick today, and it felt really good, so I took the first half of the kicks today, and it felt really good; I didn't feel it, so it's just kind of getting the confidence back in it, and like I said, I don't think I'll be 100 percent, but I think I'll be pretty close -- hopefully."
Though he said his range has improved, don't expect Elam to take any shots at breaking his record-tying 63-yard field goal.
"I mean, if we need a 58-yard field goal, probably Paul (Ernster) will have to go in and try it," Elam said, "but hopefully it won't come to that."
INJURY REPORT: Stephen Alexander (ribs), Adam Meadows (hamstring) and Darrent Williams (toe) each missed at least a portion of Thursday's practice. Alexander and Meadows are both listed as questionable for this Sunday's game in Arizona. Williams was downgraded from probable to questionable.
Cardinals running back Marcel Shipp (ribs) was upgraded from doubtful to questionable. Tackle Reggie Wells (illness) was downgraded from probable to questionable. Both safety Hanik Milligan (illness) and cornerback Robert Tate (illness) had been listed as probable and were not listed on Thursday's injury report.
