View Full Version : TO meets with Denver about possible trade
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2312714
In the wake of defeat in the AFC championship game, Denver Broncos coach Mike Shanahan spoke with purposeful vagueness last week about his team's potential to perhaps take on a high-profile player with a problematic past.
On Monday, Shanahan essentially attached an identity to the unnamed veteran player -- Terrell Owens.
ESPN.com has confirmed that Shanahan met with Owens, the exiled Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver, and agent Drew Rosenhaus in Denver. The meeting might be the first step in an effort to acquire Owens, who is still under contract to the Eagles.
It also might amount to nothing at all. But sources said there appears to be some degree of mutual interest, even if the meeting was generally viewed as just a get-acquainted session.
Beyond confirming the meeting, Rosenhaus declined to comment.
God, I hope this happens. I'd love nothing more than to see TO get his hat trick at the expense of your team.
I am more scared by this than anything...between the white lines, TO is money, and I think he can probably make any QB look better (except Kerry Collins). I don't need another all-pro offensive threat in this division, we have LT, Gates, LJ, Tony G...that's enough to keep Rob Ryan and the Raiders coaching staff confused.

True JC....but he also tends to tear a team apart...:p

Owens knows this is his last shot. Likle JC I think Owens is a great player on Sundays.
I rather not have this guy in the AFC West.

I'd rather not either....but then again, if he tears that Denver locker room apart, maybe Rod Smith will ask to be traded to the chiefs!!! :p (hey, I can dream)!

Actually there are several rumors flying that Rod will either re-structure his contract to make room for TO, or he would just retire after 12 years in the league...
I don't want his attitude here. I say we give him the same idea of a contract that Clarret signed...

Terrell Owens is completely incapable of controlling his impulses. On top of that, he never accepts responsibility for anything he does; he always puts the blame on others. If he can't understand what's wrong with him, he'll never learn to change anything.

Considering how Shanny drafted that complete stiff Clarrett in the third round, signing TO wouldn't surprise me in the least

This wouldn't surprise me at all. All things considered, the Broncos would get at least one good year out of the guy. It's the years that follow that I'd love to see.
To state the glaringly obvious: Owens would be a thousand percent more marketable if he'd dump Rosenhaus.

I think any team who signs TO is bound to make it a one-year deal and see what happens!!

It's apparently an incentive-laden proposition that the Broncos are going to offer him.
Incentive clause #1: $500,000 bonus if you can complete a full season, including any postseason games, without calling Jake Plummer a homo.
Incentive clause #2: $20,000 bonus for each reporter you tell "No comment."
Incentive clause #3: $5,000,000 bonus if you ballgag, butt plug, and shitcan your agent upon arriving in Denver.

That would be the plan I'd use to be sure.

That's my feeling as well. He still lets reporters bait him far too easily. I don't think he'll ever change.

It sounds good, but...if it actually happened...I don't think I'd like this trade quite as much.
Bah. He'll flip out after one season. We're not going to be anything even resembling a contender next year, so...screw it. Let the man have his one good season, then work his magic afterwards.

Yeah. He oughta send Michael Irvin a big ol' piece of coal for Christmas next year.

Well now they're saying that Shanny will either be going after TO OR Ricky Williams...
We just don't like to take on easy talent now do we?

Rosenhaus might like that too much...and to butt plug him, you'd have to remove his head from it first...could be tricky!
If only I was a photoshop guy...

Ahhh, that's right. Michael was his boy when all this started, wasn't he? Seems like even he shut up after a while, though.
